Yes. I watched it only a few months ago because of how many people said they loved it. Was fantastic. One of my favorite shows of all time, now.

Probably not. Doesn't seem like something you would like.

My guess is KI has already seen The Wire or heard enough about it over the past 10 years or so to know that it is worth seeing.

everybody loves the wire. for those who didn't find out about idris elba (my choice for the 12th doctor who for what it's worth) in luther then they definitely knew about him as stringer bell in this show. and btw, i think stringer's big picture ideas for the outfit were the way to go.... he knew what was up. well read man.

idk i've got a little background around the outskirts of "the game" and for what it is i reckon the show's pretty solid. and if you keep watching you're eventually rewarded with some "OH SHIT IT'S OMAR" moments that always put a =) on my face. and uhhh yeah if you don't like it you're probably a lame racist. i don't think you're allowed to dislike this show in our contemporary society, so you might as well give in to the world around you and get with the program. and keep an eye out for omar.

Definitely watch it. I just started myself and it was slow moving through the first couple episodes. Plus there a lot of characters to keep track of. Now I'm on Episode 5 and it's getting real good.

Stringer Bell should have graduated from Wharton and gone on to run a Fortune 500 company. Circumstances dictated different.

His way was never gonna work. To borrow from another great HBO show, "You can't be half a gangster. Not anymore."

I can see why someone may not like it. I don't think being a racist has anything to do with it. It's hard for me to pick a favorite character from the show.

Mine was Stringer.

"You taking notes on a criminal fucking conspiracy?"

Omar was tremendous also.

At the time Omar being gay bothered me. I imagine if I watched it now I probably wouldn't have a problem with it. I was a big fan of Prop Joe.

I feel like Jay Landsman was one of the most underrated characters. That guy was funny as hell. Omar, Prop Joe, Bunk would probably be my top 3.

I like how the Michael character evolved.

Prop Joe was very good as well. The show was surprising in introducing characters that you didn't immediately identify as being important and developing them into rich characters.

I've heard people bring it up while discussing other shows. Wondered if there were any negatives associated with the show.

Side note...

The "hey everybody, I'm a troll" trolling effort is getting worse by the minute... :D

(I'm mad)

All the characters mentioned so far are good

I guess Stringer, Omar, Dubs, and Freamon were the tops

I'll be interested in Ivan and Jorrs take on season 2. I think its awesome

I didn't watch it til last year but I thought that part made it better. It was such a unique original character

Well I was still in my very early 20's and even though I was friendly with people who were gay seeing males kiss and do other things made me uncomfortable. It was one of the first occasions I can remember Hollywood trying to debunk a gay stereotype.

Whitey loves to trump this show. Shows whitey has street cred and can appreciate really important television. It's good but there were too many horseshit plots in the final season. Still feel the show is a possible GOAT just for its exploration of urban decline. Omar is very overrated. He got way too cartoony towards the end. First two seasons are the best. Show slipped when Evil Incarnate Marlo was introduced. Ziggy might be the best character ever on The Wire.

Saying that somebody likes a tv show because it gives them street cred is an incredibly stupid position to take.

Are we gonna get into this?

Should we bump one of the old threads so as not to Spoil?

I don't get into it on the internet. Who's opinion has ever been changed in the history of internet message boards? Arguments just devolve into poorly reworded wikipedia articles.

Nobody's. But if I can manage to convince just one Satriani fan that he actually sucks I will consider my life fulfilled.

You missed the entire point of The Wire. Seasons 3 and 4 were not only the best, but also the most important.
