Listening. Great year. Have they done a 1996 show yet? They should.

It's not unthinkable. It's certainly rootsy enough. I heard John Hiatt early in the show; I'm sure they played him!

i moved from chicago in 1995 so i don't know i would've heard it...i know in the philly area (where i moved to) they wouldn't have. but son volt has some local roots definitely. john hiatt?? yeah...would not have heard that on the east coast. we had shitty radio stations though.

in seattle they had "the end"...that was a great radio station. i think it's still around.

Of all their subdepartments of station darlings, the John Hiatt/Mellencamp/Lyle Lovett one is probably the most inscrutable. Maybe it was a you-had-to-be-there-in-1995 thing, where anything strummy and earnest, no matter how mediocre, was a welcome respite from grunge on one side and electronic on the other for "adult rock" listeners.

loved "joshua judges ruth" from lovett. all i listened to while i lived here in the mid 90's was either B96 or q101...never heard of xrt until about 2 years ago, no lie. i've never really liked the radio post 1996.

I thought you interned there. ONCE AGAIN, I've confused Wheaton Zack with Eaglo Jeff, god damn it.
