And you're a racist, too, if you celebrate his Masters win.

A homophobe and/or racist. Sorry, I'm having problems keeping my narratives, umm, straight.

People who are very proud of their southern heritage are often racist. Not all of them are, but there's a very high correlation there.

Bernstein is just wrong about this. In Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, I think I probably saw more pride among black people from being from the Dirty than from white people. It was probably about equal. But either way, it's obvious that he doesn't know what the fuck he is talking about.

Yeah. Thinking gay people are sinners for being gay. Which I actually sort of agree with Dan on, but then he makes the extreme jump to being proud of being from the South means you're almost certainly racist.

Bernstein KNOWS. There is no one more qualified to teach us about the Southern experience than a Jewish guy who was born and raised in Deerfield.

By "people," Dan means "white people," and read into that what you will, but he's still right. The real problem is that he thinks the South starts roughly north of Peotone. He's wrong, of course; it starts roughly south of Peotone.

Buying the automobile version of the Confederate Flag named after a General who fought to maintain slavery has it's drawbacks.

As always, the problem is that it's a broad brush. He takes something that is sometimes true and maybe even true more times than not and applies it to the whole group. This is from a guy who is in one of the most "stereotyped" groups in society.

Or maybe he was a fan of the show and like a million kids all over the country thought the car was pretty cool? If I buy a Mercedes, do I support killing and extermination of the jooz?

You could add that to any post criticizing DB for non sports thoughts and it'd be applicable. Would probably work for some sports discussions as well.

Theres nothing wrong with being rich, having a large nose, an advanced degree, and controlling the finance and entertainment industries in my opinion.

He really want to get after Phil Robertson as well. He slipped it out today. He is after the combo southern bible thumper. What I do not get is why is he a homophobe? Aren't religious types allowed to believe gays are sinning? Aren't you ok and not a homophobe up and until you act on that via discrimination, violence or other proactive interference with peoples lives?

That's what's so ironic about this, and I've pointed it out before on this board when people want to label southerners as racist(most who want to do that have probably actually spent very little time in the south.)

Being racist can generally be described as stereotyping people who are different from you and believing that you are inherently superior because of said stereotype. Well, what does Dan(and he's certainly not alone in this) do? He stereotypes southerners and believes he is better than them because of that stereotype.

A close friend/business associate hated that I always drove a Benz. He liked to tell me that it was carpeted with his grandfather's hair.

Dont be purposely obtuse, Rogue.

Im sorry to slightly agree with Bernstein here, but Im just not a fan of the Confederate Flag

Unless the Mercedes hood ornaments are swastikas, then I take it all back.

I'm absolutely not a fan of the Confederate flag. I'm just saying there's more to Southern history and culture than that.

Right. It's a pretty complex and interesting culture they have down there. I believed many of the stereotypes perpetuated up here about southerners before I lived down there. Then in my first couple months in Louisiana I saw two black guys(one young, one older) who had a confederate flag decal on their truck. It was a WTF moment and made me immediately reconsider what I thought I knew about the south.

Ok, I think I have this thing solved

Bubba Watson bought Tiger Woods old mansion and befriended Jameer Nelson

Do those sound like the actions of a racist man?

Thats fine . Seems like Lil Danny is making the leap that because he has the car he must agree with all the history behind it. Id say the premise I put forth is a helluva lot closer to the real reason he has the car than Bubba being a supporter of slavery. ( If thats the connection Bernstein is making , not listening so don't know the context)

Agreed. Doesn't give Stine the right to characterize the entire group of a Geographic area, though. He can't just stop at criticizing one person. He has to push it to the extreme.

Only when he hosts a show with a black man will I think he isn't racist...that works every time.
