Yes but I'm not blind to his faults.

Almora passed out on the field today. Reports are it was due to an unstoppable nosebleed. #cubinjuries

i just got back from vacation down in the the smoky mountains, and was able to catch a tennessee smokies game while we were there. first of all, the facility and the field were really nice. i was able to walk up and buy great tickets for $11 each that got me front row behind 3rd base. it was an afternoon game on a weekday so there were not many people there, and the weather was gorgeous, perfect day for a game.

kris bryant is a man among boys down there. he is very big, he definitely stands out among his teammates. he started and played the entire game at 3rd and he looked very comfortable. he didnt have anything dazzling in the field that day, but his arm looked very solid on the plays he did make and the several grounders hit his way he handled with ease. at the plate he looked very patient, he took a walk and worked some deep counts. he hit a hard double down the line at one point as well. he also got hit by a pitch. he looked very large and imposing at the plate and he certainly didnt look intimidated or over-matched. i dont think he will be down there very long.

arrieta pitched that day too, he looked good considering he was pitching to AA talent. cj edwards pitched the night before so i didnt get to see him in action. i never laid eyes on soler, he is still on the DL.

my 10-year-old daughter got hit in the back with a wicked foul ball while waiting in line for some popcorn. it got her in the lower back and luckily grazed her more than a solid shot. we had to spend half an inning in the first aid room. she was fine, they were real nice and retrieved the ball for her, so that made her happy. it was pretty scary though, you really have to have eyes in the back of your head at a baseball game. she got another ball later from the bullpen catcher. some idiot kids were down there antagonizing him about the score while he warmed up a pitcher (we were on the visitor side) and after he warmed up the pitcher he stood up, looked at the asshole kids walked towards them as they begged for the ball after talking shit in his ear for 10 minutes, then did a left turn right towards us and handed her the ball. that was pretty cool.

after the game we were behind the smokies dugout as they left the field after winning (while "go cubs go" played). we had on a bunch of cubs gear and as bryant went in the dugout i called out for him to hurry north to chicago, we needed him ASAP. i hope we see him soon. to my naked eye he looked like he is wasting his time in that league, but we will see.

Clayton Kershaw to make a rehab start against the Smokies on Wednesday. Will be a good challenge for Bryant against the games best pitcher.

Are the Cubs sending Samardzija or Wood down to Tennessee for additional work?

No he's been too busy pitching the 8th and 9th innings of tie games.

It's six in a row for the Tennessee Smokies as they blinded the Chattanooga Lookouts (Dodgers), 8-4.

Starter Pierce Johnson had a much better start tonight than he did last time out and because of that, he picked up his first win of the season. Johnson pitched six innings and allowed two runs on five hits. He struck out five and walked two.

Third baseman Kris Bryant had his best night of the season with four hits in five at-bats, including his sixth home run. The home run came with a man on in the fourth inning. Bryant scored twice and just had the two RBI.

Catcher Charles Cutler went 3 for 5 with a double and four RBI. He scored twice as well.

Center fielder Rubi Silva was 2 for 5 with an RBI.

Bryant looking good still.

I have been on this point for a few years but for the love....move the High A team out of Daytona. They rain out more than they play there.

Well seeing as how Bryant is 22 and the average age in the league is 24.6 ...you must have meant to say
that is how you felt after the 4th graders kicked your a$$ and then took your lunch money for good measure

Baez. I don't see Bryant appearing until 2015.

I thought Baez at the beginning of year, but now it appears even.

Baez is pressing because he knows he is almost there and 2B and 3B are wide open at the major league level. He will be fine...just exuberant youth.

Bryant isn't even a year out of the draft yet. I think they'd rather him win a full time job out of 2015 Spring Training.

Agree on Baez.

Not sure what to think about Bryant. I mean Theo and Jed have seemed patient at times. (Most of the time) But Bryant might just force their hand.

Also, Bryant is 22. College players are closer when they're drafted. Easy to forget that Baez is only 21

I think both will be up in September at the very least.

I think Cubs fans have been deluded by the steady progression of Baez. Normal progression involves these little dips. That is why it seems insane to project contending by 2016.
