yep, can't think of a holiday that packs this much punch...

Death of Jesus
Birth of Hitler
15 year anniversary of Columbine
19 year anniversary of Oklahoma City bombing (4/19)

Have fun hunting of your easter eggs on this most joyous of days!

My kids and their mates will spend Saturday night with me. We will have a nice dinner and rent a movie.

I think I will thank God for my blessings more than usual.

awakened by children at the break of dawn as we leave out eggs which lead to Easter baskets for them

9:30 mass at St. Matthias followed by an Easter egg hunt. This was our first church together and one child was baptized there. We like to go back every once in a while and the hunt is fun for the kids.

2 brunch at union league club with my family. It is a buffet, which is great for the variety but bad because I usually overstuff myself.

Afterwards dinner with my in laws. This is where the day really starts to get long as my MIL is the type who wants to keep you captive as she has nothing she needs to wake up for the next morning. We usually stuff eggs and have a hunt for the big group of kids in the family.

My holidays are not relaxing. I tell myself it is better to have people want to spend time with you than not.

This is true. As cool as it sounds to not have obligations, when we first moved out East, it sucked on holidays when we couldn't make it back to Illinois. It was too quiet and boring. Now that we have friends to hang out with, it's better, but it was pretty lonely at first on the holidays. Now, for the rest of the year, it's great!

So stroll in the house tonight at 730 with the aforementioned "family" already there. Im not real excited as it is to have everyone here and am not in an especially good mood as being the only one who had to work today. Wife made dinner, everyone seemed to be laying around in post dinner coma while theres a fucking mess from the dinner piled up in the kitchen and no one lifting a finger to clear anything. Im not quite sure what the etiquette is but I know if Im spending 3 fucking days in someone else's home with someone else cooking and providing the meals, I sure as shit would make sure they didn't have to do the cleanup too. I didn't say a word , just started clearing and cleaning the mess myself. Just trying to get thru this night work tomorrow and basically have to deal with everyone just on Sunday for a bit then get them the fuck out of the house. Thanks Jesus, great weekend to pick to diesurrect.

Wife and I sang with the choir at the Good Friday Tenebrae service. Lights dimmed, during the final song, the altar and chancel are stripped of everything and the altar is washed. At the end of the song the pastor slams the Bible shut, says "It is finished," and all leave in silence. Very powerful.

Choir practice tomorrow morning. Singing at two contemporary worship services on Easter(we're in the gym, traditional worship in the sanctuary). Afterwards brunch at my house with my sister and college age son. I'm making an egg sausage strata in the crock pot. Then much rest since I've had a cold all week.

Forgot to mention Tuesday night was a Passover seder at my friend's place in the city.

i'm going to RISE FROM MY GRAVE and save dude from altered beast's daughter. then, of course, arsenal plays hull city. for my next miracle i'm going to turn some beer into piss, curse at various day-game fantasy baseballers who are letting me down, have some sort of sit-down dinner somewhere else because my family is lazy and refuses to believe that i could cook, and then some sort of formalities before we all sit down and remember the REAL reason for the season/holiday: cadbury creme eggs.

and then after two of those you remember why you fancied them as a kid but only really have about 2-4 per year between easter and christmas.

and then of course, the final act of easter is the next morning when i achieve burlap-style-elevation from the toilet seat giving back all that ham and horseradish back to the earth from whence it came. then i gotta fly out to do a sequel with chris tucker while i play that one old thrill kill kult song very apropos to this post in my head/phones.

It's hard to break away from family holiday traditions that are decades old. The first couple of years are the hardest.

We will spend Easter as a family, and go out to dinner in the city with our daughters that live in Ukranian Village.

oh yeah? then who was that funky black guy who was exactly the same height as me (we saw eye to eye) who identified himself as "jesus' father" late one night outside of the howard red-line station?

and like i tell anyone whom i wanna freak out with that story: it wasn't as much meeting that dude, it was the 2-3 people 2-3 blocks away who called me over from across the street and were like "SO YOU MET HIM, HUH? WHAT DID YOU THINK?!?!" =D

In practice, and philosophy, an atheist is a misnomer.

I think we all know what you worship Ike.

Played Heratage Bluff last week and was dreadful 103. I told you about the driver swap not hitting the R1 very well
and still just 6 rounds into my new irons and hitting way longer than the old ones so practice, practice, practice.

That sucks. We had a similar issue with our a few weeks ago, severely dehydrated needed an IV and then was okay.

My wife took my kids to Michigan for the weekend (over their spring break) so I can have the place alone to finish my book. I finished it this morning. Tonight, I'm having Chicken fried rice (with bacon).

No, finishing my book isn't a euphemism for masturbation.
