bad timing award: giving Noah the defensive player of the year trophy after he got lit up by the Wizard's Center-of-the-Day program...

as usual, this show has seen fit to say "pay no attention" to the Hawks first two losses. After all, they're the better team...

Will they talk hockey? Will they talk basketball? Will they talk Bears draft? Tune in and find out!

I remember Dan saying last week, when discussing the possibility of Noah winning this, that he doesn't really care about these awards, which is why he will spend a couple segments today bitching about how the voters got DPOY wrong.

According to B&B Noah isn't a good player

If I remember correctly, Danny said last week that Noah should be a lock to win DPOY.

Shirley, you can't be serious. Thought Dan's stance was it's Lebron's trophy until he hangs 'em up.

Could have been someone else, but I'm almost positive it was him. He didn't say anything about who may deserve it, just that Noah would win it.

Yeah he did say that. Hard not to acknowledge it. Pretty much everyone around the NBA has known it for over a month.

So now "bumslayers" can win DPOY?

Nene should be defensive player of the year after holding Noah to 1 shot outside of 2 feet. :D

Is the "Wakey wakey, Backes" thing really that terrible? I mean, Backes seems like a total piece of shit. I find it funny.

It is funny. It's funnier that everyone was shitting on Backes like two weeks ago for headhunting MacKinnon in the midst of the Blues' tailspin, yet now he's practically become a Christ figure. I guess it is that time of the year.

The worst part is that now we've copied baseball's narrative wholesale, where St. Louis is the defender of all things right and good.

Besides the non-denial from Keith, is there any proof that it was he who said it? THe last I saw, Yahoo! threw it out there in an article with zero proof.

The "Wakey, wakey" issue is being overblown in typical B&B fashion. Enhanced audio, anonymous confirmation of who said what and when, all taken completely out of context.

My PTFB moment comes in at 1:54 when a Bill from Capital Hill missive is read. It isn't just the reflexive actions of the sycophants but the combined dismiss of any counterargument that is posed. Nobody can use analogies, only they can use analogies. Nobody can cite comparative history, only they get to exhume the past.

Hussra, a problem with DRPM (Player's estimated on-court impact on team defensive performance, measured in points allowed per 100 defensive possessions) is that it starts out as an estimate, based upon one person's interpretation, and fails to account for the impact of average number of minutes played per game. Thus bench players are credited with having a greater statistic while playing in a limited role. There are others questionable aspects as well.

This is the weekend take away?

The soupy brained oaf is clearly concussed and tries to further scramble his eggs by getting in a fight. I laughed at his dumbass too. He's the American equivalent of Shane Doan so its no surprise the hockey world easily forgets his career of dickhead behavior and rudderless leadership. Nothing gets a hockey fan's plums tingling more than a "tough" North American power forward.

Either way, who cares? I'm guessing a lot worse things were said in the Brewers/Pirates fight. People say dumb, hurtful crap when they play sports. Every day.

It had to have come from the ice. There is no way that the ref's mic picked it up that distinctly, from the crowd, which was in a frenzy. It was most likely Keith. His "non-denial" denial was pretty damning.

Hawks fans were pretty pissed, and rightfully so, after Hossa got lit up by Torres, and Seabrook got lit up by Wiesniewski. There seems to be a lot of excuse making for Seabrook right now. Hawks fans are quick to call other teams dirty. Then they can't defend saying "wakey wakey" after Backes was drilled by a dirty hit. Bickell sticking out his knee was right out of Slapshot. That was bush league.
