Nothing else makes sense.

With the current roster that is about the best you can do.

Meaning Olt will be controlled by the Cubs during his prime and Davidson will be a free agent going into his prime.

Cubs win again!

.220 with 4 HR's, while playing good defense. Leave him there all year! It's his job this year to lose!

The development of this guy could be icing on the cake at some point.

I thought he was more like .195 than .220. I will take the 4 hr and 9 rbi though. .195 is still better than some of the crap The Ricker puts into the lineup.

He is .195 now.

He was .220 when bigfan posted that, during the game.

His average still fluctuates a lot on account of the fewer ABs than most.

I'm so torn about Lake hitting high or low in the lineup. I like his athleticism at the top...I don't like his patience and the way he constantly attacks and doesn't take as many pitches as he should.

But if he gets on...he has a better chance to score than most.

I think Olt would be better served hitting a spot or two higher to get some protection...he has good plate discipline...would be nice if someone behind him could hit consistently so he doesn't feel as if he needs to homer or strikeout each at bat.

Rizzo could become like Votto and hit second in the lineup. He doesn't NEED to be the three hitter if his OBP remains around .450. Especially with guys like Bryant and Baez in the pipeline...guys that seem like more natural 3 and 4 hitters.

Agree on Rizzo

I think Lake is a perfect 7 hitter. Having a fast guy near the pitchers spot comes in handy

None of them have proven anything to me.

Olt has proven he deserves the full time chance to own that position. Now lets see what he does with it.

Whoa that thing a bit.

Olt doesn't exactly have a ton of major league at-bats, and he hasn't been a world beater during his tenure so far.

He has done enough to show that he deserves to start over some other options currently on the team. That is all he has done so far.

However, if he truly now has a chance to play almost every day...I expect him to do better than a .195 BA.

Interview with RICKY today on the Game. Very good detailed discussion on Olt and Rickster, acknowledges lotsa Thunder in the bat and he has earned more time. Is exactly what he said.

I misread or misinterpreted a bit of your post. I agree with you mostly.

But Gillaspie has performed well enough to not only start almost every game at 3B for the White Sox...he has also been reasonably successful at it.

I don't think you can say Olt has proven more than Gillaspie.

Davidson is a 23 year old prospect in the minors. Apples and oranges.

Gillasepie played 134 games last year, hit .249, 13HR, 40RBI. Not great by any means, but not terrible either. He's at .314 with 9 RBI and is playing better defense this year. But hasn't shown bigfan anything.

Olt has played 32 MLB games with 4 HR and 13RBI, yet he has proven that he deserves the full time chance? Which one of Olt's 13 career hits is your favorite, biggie?

Certainly none of the above are "proven" but to say Olt has proven he deserves a chance to be the everyday 3B yet in the same breath say that Gillaspie has shown you nothing just proves how bad most of your sports thoughts really are.

If he pitches well, as he has all year, he has a good chance.

Dont take Jorr's theory too far. Even JORR knows there are exceptions and this Cubs team is one of them.

Cubs manager Rick Renteria indicated Tuesday that Mike Olt will be given more playing time at third base going forward.
Olt is hitting just .195 so far, but he belted his fourth home run Tuesday and is sporting a .512 slugging percentage. He's shared the position with Luis Valbuena so far, but it sounds like he'll be given a chance to run with the job. "We’ve talked about gradually getting him into that role," Renteria said. "Do I plan on playing him [Wednesday]? Yes. Everything’s very calculated. So I’m going to throw him out there and let him run with it a little bit. We’re still measuring everything; we’re still trying to be kind of guarded, but he’ll be in there tomorrow again." Apr 23 - 9:00 AM

If he didn't give up a hit or walk and managed to lose because of errors I think we can say without a doubt he had a bad game. Anything less than a W is a bad outing.

Olt has been flashing some good leather of late. Looks like the shoulder problems are behind him and he's looking like a plus defender.
