Why do this?

The only thing I can think of is some fan got checked every time but saw the ushers letting some people through and claimed it was unfair

They should be giving massages and doing everything short of sucking their fans dicks

Was @ the game yesterday & have never seen so many people sitting in seats that weren't their's. IDK if these people belonged in the section or not, but a lot of people had to move when stragglers would come in. Guess all this ticket checking in the corridors doesn't mean much.

Theoretically I get why they want to check tickets and not just let people sit wherever they want in that otherwise I'd buy a cheapo ticket and then sit in the 8th row with no thought to ever paying the proper amount. Again, theoretically I get why.

That said, assuming JORR's account is accurate (and I have no reason to believe it's not), that's just plain old country dumb-fuckery ... and probably means we're not too far from them dragging out the old saw about "well, if nobody comes out, we're not gonna have a decent team".

That would be interesting, if true. If you were sitting in a cheap seat, and then got a text or could view an app with a list of discounted seats available for that same game (let's say $10 for an unsold ticket whose face value was $50 more) would you do it? I like the concept but can see it being a logistical nightmare. Plus, as DT said, maybe that dissuades people from buying the higher-priced tickets in advance.

The coworker I went with a couple of weeks ago loves to sit in sec 107- so we went to our row and spread out with an empty between each of us for comfort. the flow of people in and out of the section was amazing, only a few of them seemed to stick with a general area. of course, many were Indians fans, but still...I sat through the whole game without getting up (big bladder) and never once got asked for my ticket

So the trick is to never get up? :D

Yeah, you have to be careful with stuff like that. When the Hawks were in the dark years they listed some tickets right on the glass on Stub Hub for nothing more than the service fee. So you had homeless people sitting in front of season reservation holders. That's probably not a great business model.

Going to a game is starting to be like an airline flight. I can see a time when no two people in the entire park paid the same price for their tickets.

Look at all those jackets and ties. That is the problem. People going to games looking like savages and all. No wonder the Sox are cracking down. Gotta put a stop to it

If anyone is interested , Herb Lawrence and Shep are doing the " why don't you go to Sox games " show right now. Herb thinks Sox fans are failing their team.

Listening. Jeez it is terrible. Also, before that they did the Donald Sterling show. Its not like there was a hockey or basketball game? WTF? Dumb radio. Also, they had a baseball guest on named Christina which confused the fuck out of me as it sounded like a Christopher to me?

Don't get this at all. My wife and I moved around without any hiccups on Friday. Not once did we have an issue. We had bleacher tickets and never even went out there. Sat in the RF corner for a couple innings, moved to behind the Sox dugout (a few rows from the top) about the 3rd inn, then moved in front of Nancy Faust's booth about the 5th inn. When we walked in at gate 5 at about 6:45, there wasn't even anybody checking at the 100 level to see if you had an upper deck ticket or not.

You seem to have a lot of problems with this, JOrr. Maybe some of this you bring on yourself somehow? Now I know that you go to a lot more games than I do, and I've had to show my tickets on the concourse before I get into the 100 level almost every game. But as far as the actual seating sections seats go I honestly cannot remember the last time I had my tickets checked, other than when we sat on the Club Level in 2011.

edit, I take that back about showing tickets. I just happened 2 weeks ago  . I went on the 12th against Cleveland and our tickets were checked. However that was because we had the wheelchair seats (which the Sox gave to us for $0.00) so I expected to have to show our tickets then. Once we were there and all set up, never had to show our tickets again. As a matter of fact, my buddy Phil and his gf had upper deck seats, so I met them out in the ramps in the 3rd or 4th inning and gave them extra stubs so they could get to the 100level. They actually sat with us for about 4 innings. Their tickets were never checked, and I asked the usher if he could get us another folding since since "the other people in our party showed up" and he got one right away with no questions asked. After they met some of her friends in the RF stands and they said they were able to sit out there for the rest of the game with no issues.

The two times I've been this year my ticket wasn't checked to enter the concourse. I sat in the section behind the Sox dugout (FRI) and then the Indians dugout (SUN). Neither time was my ticket checked to enter the sections.

The 2nd game was the 1st Family Sunday that had 1st pitch delayed by an hour because of rain. They pretty much allowed people to grab any seat they wanted. The Indians aren't a "hot" opponent so maybe that contributed to the nonchalant attitude. Going on Tuesday barring a rain cancellation so I'll be curious if they're stricter with the Tigers in town.

I'm backing up Frank. I have gone to several games this year and they are not even looking for 100 level tickets.

I have seen a few overzealous ushers in the past. If you walk up to the section like you own it you can usually intimidate them sufficiently where you don't have to say anything.

The 100 level watchers are the one the get me most angry. I gave a real dressing down to one when my wife only had one ticket with her when she took one of the kids out for something and was prevented from returning to her seats.

I didn't have any problem with it. I rarely sit in a seat. I was standing on the left field concourse observing this nonsense.

And I'm not saying it happens every time. It's pretty arbitrary, which is part of the problem. For example, an usher was guarding 162 like the president was sitting there and there was no one at the top of the stairs in 158 at all.

dolphin backs you up but then points out his own experience with stupidity. Did they really think that Mrs. dolphin had a 100 level ticket but grade school dolphin was in a 500 level seat? It's just fucking ignorant.

The real usher problems seemed to start when they restricted access to the 100 level a few years ago.

Which, we all know goes back to....

Ok, mind changed. JORR is right with this nomination.
1. This is the Tigers but Sox just have to get this one in for some fucked up reason even though rain in the forecast.

2. Our crew of 3 wanted to move from the bleachers to avoid the rain and under get the deck in the last row of section 152. No one is in the section. Once we sat down we had Auntie Madea give us the business and kick us out. Excellent. I think we'll just leave the ballpark instead Caller Bob.

See if Adam Dunn has any dining suggestions for you first.

Its not a shit hole, it's just a sports bar. Wings, Burgers, etc. bar height tables, in a lower level dive like atmosphere.

I will guess Carroll might have said "Not too much $$$" as he isnt making MLB money FT yet, so I will give dunn the out.

dinner and drinks for 35 at Timothy Otooles about $700
dinner and drinks for 35 at Hugos about $2500

Dunn is ok there I think. More importantly I am sure the kid and his family enjoyed the whole debut experience.

You should have just moved to sec 150, 151, 149, or tried over in RF. You would have easily been able to sit somewhere.
