Give the 2.5 million to the NAACP, they usually exercise good judgement.

That seems fine but I am not a fan of forcing a sale of the team.

Its pretty Harsh. I didnt think Silver would go this hard.

Id think the other owners would be firmly against the forced sale

  Can you be a slumlord when you don't rent to the people that you think would turn your property into a slum?

My understanding is some of these properties were in upscale neighborhoods and cost thousands monthly.

Lisa Guerrero ( Inside Edition) called him a slumlord.

I think it is excessive too. IMO his past actions were worse than his words.

Do you think this committee will actually force the sale? He said recommend right? If he is ousted for life why can't a kid or trustee run it?

Because this is an elaborate scheme to get the Guggenheims to drop ridiculous money on a team and jack up everyone else's franchise values.

This is not the judicial system. This is the NBA. Having an outed racist owner would be/is a huge problem for the league. The punishment fits the problem.

The lifetime ban yes. The forced sale and tax consequences and so on to people other than he is a reach.

Make up call for NBA doing nothing about the LEGAL housing discrimination charges.

Agree about the slippery slope though.

Agreed. He did that to save the league.

Think they'd be doing the same thing if it were Michael or Magic caught on tape with racially charged opinions? ( i know there is a body of work with Sterling too thats probably playing into it) . Ban them for life, force them to sell? would the NBA players stage protests over those comments?

Depends on how much money you think he cost the league. And how much you think his family name will cost the league.

If the league wanted to, they could just terminate the franchise and then re-establish a "new" one in LA. The Sterling's wouldn't get shit. They are doing him a favor by having him sell it.

You cant make that comparison though because of the body of work.

But if Magic was caught on tape saying dont bring white people to my games, Im not sure what other reaction they can have.

That's the issue. It soooo clearly in the wrong. He didnt say types of people, he didnt say my opinion...he said "Do not bring this specific type of person to the business I run"

If you wanted to say something sure to get you in trouble, you'd say it that way.

a man after my own heart

There is no way the owners agree to a forced sale unless they know a prospective owner will pay at or above market. A below market sale hurts all of them.
