I would be supportive but I wouldn't celebrate it at 15. I would also feel that I failed my daughter in some way.

No it is weird that most people would not celebrate what some consider a youthful mistake involving a pregnancy on an MTV show.

Big difference between being supportive and cheering it on.

You should know that.

But you don't.

Maybe you don't know everything?

Um, when 15 year old white girls get prego it's not the end of the world, and kind of cute. The kid will probably end up at a Tier 1 school like Little Man Tate due to the close relationship with his hard-working single mother. When 15 year old black girls get prego, everyone asks what took so long. Just sayin'

Exactly. Yet it seems like so many in our world today do not understand this.

Supportive does not mean celebrating like your kid just scored the winning run in a game. It just really makes me sad. And it is irritating to me that the other eyes watching these things see this celebrating and are so starved for attention that they want to follow in those steps.

I get kids and teens reacting this way, but when adults do it is just pathetic.

Granted, I'm against anyone having babies for any reason, but..

It's just so crazy to me to think of a 15 year old being pregnant. Just thinking back to being 15 I can say pretty conclusively that neither I nor anyone I associated with had the first clue about any goddamn thing. So there's that. I don't think a 15 year old is a suitable parent. Also, I definitely think a traditional family environment is at least preferable, and I think it's pretty long odds a pair of 10th grade lovebirds hold it together for 18 years.

Lastly, that Simpsons pic Tad posted has more than a grain of truth. Your late teens/early 20s are a special time. It's that transition from childhood to adulthood, where you get into all kinds of crazy shit and live somewhat carefree for the last time in your life (or at least until you develop severe dementia). These girls think it's just the greatest thing in the world to have a baby, but the second that baby pops out, your childhood is fucking done. You're in the ratrace for good at that point, and you're additionally burdened because you've built up no kind of base to take it on.

In theory, but definitely not true in a lot of cases.

Yes, Matt.

I could not imagine a 15 year old me as a Dad. One, because I was not in any way ready and two, because there is no way any girl would have let me impregnate her.

These are children having children. I guess they think it's going to be some sort of fairy tale? Jesus, I'm in my 40s and raising kids isn't easy. I couldn't imagine having one when I was busy dissecting the 83 Cubs roster.
