No "McNutty" love? Best TV cop ever. The more he ruined himself, the more entertaining he was.

What about Chris and Snoop? That little chick likes killin! That scene in epsiode one of season four where snoop bought the nail gun was priceless.

But maybe the best character ever was Snot Boogie. Great acting!!!

Still feel the show is a possible GOAT just for its exploration of urban decline. Omar is very overrated. He got way too cartoony towards the end. First two seasons are the best. Show slipped when Evil Incarnate Marlo was introduced. Ziggy might be the best character ever on The Wire.

You missed the entire point of The Wire. Seasons 3 and 4 were not only the best, but also the most important.

One and three were the best. then two. Four and five were my least fav. Too much about the school kids in four.

Bunk was overrated

There I said it.

He was still good, but being that he is a lot of people's favorite character, I was underwhelmed

There is really no sense arguing about which is the best of the first four seasons.

The first four were perfect television. The fifth was just a notch below that.

I don't have Comcast. I have HBO but never set up my HBO GO account and I think it should be on there.
I think you have to watch that online and I don't have a tablet or much interest in getting it hooked up.

Oh, yeah, its for sure on HBOGO. That's how I watched it.

Tablet's are pretty inexpensive and awesome, T Bone.

And the HBO GO app works well even on Mobile 3g

I have a laptop and maybe use it twice a week for a few minutes. Really no interest in a tablet right now.
I would rather be able to have a little marathon watching session and catch it on my 46". I don't have Netflix
either otherwise I would have rented it by now. I'll figure something out eventually.

Bunk was fucking awesome.

I think he was the one who first said one the series key phrases - There you go, givin a fuck when it aint your turn to give a fuck

One half of the one of the most famous scenes, where him and Jimmy go through a crime scene figuring out everything that happened and only saying the word Fuck.

When he got fucked up at that woman's house and burned his clothes and Jimmy had to come get him...

His scene with him and Omar where he calls Omar a predatory motherfucker and is the first person to call Omar out for not being heroic, and Omar get all watery eyed and shit and realizes he's right is another one of the best scenes of the series. There's probably a dozen more that I'm missing. Bunk was great.

Yep, those 4 scenes are great.

Thats about it though. Im not saying he's bad, but he's not a top 20 character on the show (shots fired!)

RPB done lost his damn fool mind. The Bunk, being a suit and tie motherfucker, was a top five character on the show. Most overrated is Omar. Underrated is Landsman.

I disagree on Omar, but I understand why some would say he's overrated. He gets way more love than any other Wire character, but at the same time he is one of the best TV characters in recent memory. Best thing about him was the writing staff never giving in to temptation to overuse him.

Says the guy who thinks Marlo, maybe the most important character on the show, was a detriment

Important characters can be bad.

Skyler.

True. But Marlo isn't Skyler. Marlo is awesome.

I dont wanna get too far from The Wire, but you guys think Skyler was bad? I mean she wasnt as good as Walt, Jesse, Hank, and Gus, but she did a decent job with her character.

And yes, Marlo is awesome. You could just feel the tension when Marlo was around. Like some crazy shit was always just about to happen.

Plus he's really the only one who didnt show some fear of Omar.

Skyler was awful. She was awful in Deadwood too.

Iirc, Avon never showed fear of Marlo. He just was in prison when Marlo made his move and then misjudged Marlo after he got out and went after him.

Bad acting or unlikeable character?

She was certainly not awful. A show could not be that great and have someone with that big of a role be "awful"

She was good with the Ted storyline, the car wash, and she played it well when she was brought in to the crime.

No, I said fear of Omar.

Even Stringer and Avon seemed to be weary of him and wanted a peace treaty. Marlo just wanted the fucking battle.

Yeah, her storyline on Deadwood just dragged on and on. But without Skyler, we would not have been treated to this:

Both. Every time she was on screen I couldn't wait for her scene to end so it could move on to better storylines. She was like the Theon GreyJoy of Breaking Bad.

Well, we disagree on the bad acting. Being an unlikeable character was neccessary though. Its part of how you make a murderous meth dealer the good guy.

Marie was faaaaaaaaar worse

Skyler was annoying at times, but the character was essential and she was good with it a lot of the time.

The thing where she kinda wanted reflected pity from Walt having cancer rung very true to me. And the line I fucked Ted was unquestionably awesome.

I never watched Deadwood, but it feels like you guys are taking some hate from there and applying it to BB

Anyway, we can agree that she was one of the worst, I just think she was decent and most on that show were phenomenal

Nah, she was a relatively minor character in Deadwood.

And I saw Breaking Bad first.

Skyler was just an annoying character. Same with her sister. Neither were poorly acted roles.

P.S.

Breaking Bad is getting way too much love. I understand it's still fresh in people's minds but time needs to pass before it finds its true place in the television pantheon. It's a nice series with a legendary role and performance by Cranston. I never enjoyed the ensemble like I did with The Wire or The Sopranos. That's where it falls short in any discussion of best show ever. Best individual performance? Maybe. Gandolfini is right up there with Cranston.
