This fruit is rotting and has fell off the tree awhile ago.

We do this in other countries all the time. Maybe we should focus on fixing the problems in our country & protecting our citizens.
You greatly under estimate the expertise & precision that our armed forces posses.

In theory, yes. But we all know that just isn't going to happen. Citizens pay taxes for a number of reasons & being protected is one of them. CPD is failing. Badly. Not surprising in this state & city though.

Please stop Scorehead.

You don't like the truth? What exactly do you disagree with in my above statement?

There is no way for the cops to keep up with the increase in crime by themselves.

To blame the cops is unfair and counter productive.

I have stated my ideas on how to fix the majority of the problem. It is a multi-faceted approach to the problem.
Here are basically what I would do if I had a free hand and total control.

Make pot legal. Anyone in Jail/prison on pot charges ,ie no violence attached or that just plain possession and intent to distribute. Get out of jail free cards.

The other drugs you change the laws so that the hard time goes on the dealer. I mean hard time. Users for the first 2-3 offences go to rehab no lock up. After that they go to rehab in lockup.

Enforce the gun laws on the books. Chicago/Cook county have some of the more restrictive gun laws. No need for more, just enforce the ones we have. The law on the books right now that for holding a illegal gun is 5 years min. It is almost never enforced. That is just for having it.
Now on to the economic side. Now this will probably start shit but it is the truth. The real part of our country being hurt the most by the illegal alien problem in the country is the young black population. Illegals take a lot of the low end jobs. Making the illegals legal will do nothing to fix that. We need to find jobs for people. There are a lot of ways to do this and maybe making schools better and incentive the need for people to go. Like maybe tie in govt aide to it. Also,if you are getting govt funds then you have to do something for it. That was how it was when it first started. Another thing to do is ,and this goes all the way back to the Romans, to become a full citizen and get all the rights you owe the Nation 4 years. You graduate High School then you give your 4 years. Could be Military or Peace Corps(in Country only) or Border Patrol. Plus, if you are on any kind of govt assistance as a female you get the Norplant. If there is a male version of the same thing you get that too.

No I did not mean it how you are thinking. It is a stat I read about before that was the case. I will try and find the article to give it the context it deserves.

Over 100,000 civilians have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

We need that kind of precision on the streets of Chicago.

So our self-proclaimed small government aficionado is calling for an actual police state with the military patrolling neighborhoods, huh? It keeps getting better all the time.

If we stayed the hell out of other countries & used the money that we spend sending troops overseas to protect our own citizens, we would actually save money.

Enforcing gun laws sounds good.

Maybe make it so risky to get caught with a gun it makes some of these kids have second thoughts

Bringing home troops from overseas does not equal putting them on street corners domestically. It's an either/or situation.

How would you feel if troops were stationed in your neighborhood?

What if it were life in prison for being caught with an unregistered gun?

Implement "stop and frisk" and reinstate the death penalty. Problem solved.

There's chemical castration, if that counts. By the way, you've proposed this before, and you're still horrifying.

 I'll never understand the sheer hatred for poor people that is exhibited by others who seem to be in the same economic class (or at least close).

In reality, this is not true.

Check who takes advantage of the immigrants crossing the border from Mexico.

The drugs being sold on the streets of Chicago in most neighborhoods are not being sold by outsiders.

Look at what the Irish have done (See the Daley family) to destroy a once vibrant city.

That's the point. Daley is worse than El Chapo or Larry Hoover, but he's getting toasted by Terry Newman at the Gibson's anniversary party while the other two are in prison.

Dwayne Andreas and Hugh Grant are going to poison us today, but many aspire to be just like them.
