If you watched that game, the network spent a ton of time talking about PK and featured him during one of the intermissions. The NHL Network usually has a person of color in studio. Wayne Simmonds also represented well with a hat trick the other day.

The fact that people on Twitter say ignorant things, well, that's just like reading the comments following a Yahoo article. Lots of dumb stuff.

Why is "monkey" censored?

I would presume that it would be more difficult for some to discern what "p**** monkey" means rather than "porch m*****" .... I mean, that's the gist of American print censorship - make sure all people over the age of 10 are able to easily ascertain what awful words they're trying to protect us from actually are.
