Yep. There has never been a high scoring game in cold weather, thats for sure.

Has anyone here said that cold stops scoring? Gale force winds blowing directly in do though. There would have been a few homers in that game last night with no wind.

Right, but again you don't strike out 20 MLB hitters only because of the weather being bad. Maybe on an 80 degree day he strikes out 16 and gives up 3 hits, but still dominates from start to finish. Or maybe he strikes out 21, who knows. I don't, and Joe Orr doesn't.

Yeah, its just one of many factors.

Of course. And sensible people don't pick the most extreme examples to make their arguments. There are at least several games at Wrigley every season when balls are flying out of the park and one or sometimes both team score in double figures and at least several more where it is nearly impossible to scratch across a run like last night.

Wood wasn't going to be hit anywhere on that day. I can't say the same for Samardzija and Quintana last night.

Agree on Wood.

I think Samardzija and Q would probably have been good anywhere with the stuff they were throwing (but then you have to consider the mental aspect of knowing you can give up fly balls and not worry about homers)

Not really. I mean for the most part that's how it plays, but there are warm days in April and May and cold ones in June.

I dont know of any other park that plays like Petco one day and Minute Maid the next

Petco Park is like that when the marine layer rolls in, except there it's "plays like itself one day and plays like some version of hell the next."

Am I correct in the usage of ironic to say it is ironic that Sale would have his simulated start at Wrigley?

Oh no Frank. I will sit back and take notes on the definition of the word and usage. Please help me out.

Why the fuck are we seeing Valbuena again so much at 3B? Didn't they just come out and say Olt had earned a more consistent look?

But yeah, no idea why. Valbuena does nothing for anyone.

Tough righty match up on the mound for the Sox. Have to protect Olt from a guy with a 12 ERA and 2 WHIP.

Don't know if I can agree Olt has earned anything with his .167/.227/.353 line, but I can agree we've seen enough of Valbuena.

Olt needs to play every day against every pitcher. Need to see what you have or don't have with him.

Everyone already knows Valbuena is shit.

Just saw the " save 2nd base " breast cancer awareness campaign on the broadcast. Pretty creative.

Coomer is absolutely unbearable on the radio.

He barely talks, and when he does he often repeats what Pat just said.

That "L" flag just looks natural.

Like the ivy. Or vintage footage of the Babe calling his shot.

And yet I can laugh about the bad old days. Cubbie fans wallow in it, not knowing any better.

I didn't see this "save 2nd base" ad, so I'm not exactly sure what it entailed, but it sounds just as misguided and ill-conceived as the "save the ta-ta's" campaign from a few years ago. The point of breast cancer awareness has nothing to do with trying to save breasts, but rather trying to save women's lives.
