What do I know. You can put all the ketchup you want on the absolutely horrible "water dogs" they have here. In fact, it's probably the only way you can eat them without vomiting.

Talked with Doug about this as I worked at IRVINGS HOT DOGS in Wilmette as a Yute. He acknowledged the guy ast Irvings was the King, he mentally covered 15 orders at a time. None of this one at a time stuff.

Doug said he could never do what that guy did.

Still makes me want to oen a hot dog place, but like Doug, at some point you just get burned out. Just kinda surprised he didnt say he was moving, then has a REOPENING date 9 months ahead of time, so he can spend a month on some costa rican sex island.

Since your buddy Rahm likes food trucks so much, you should open one in the Loop. Ronnie WooWoo could stand outside chanting, "Hot-WOO! Dogs-WOO! No-WOO! Ketchup-WOO!"

This line of thinking turned out great for Chuck Trotter.

Well, that's true and i think there is something to it. when all you know is one thing and it goes away, you better have something ready to go. No matter what it is. Surfing, hunting, knitting, selling insurance, just better have something ready to do.

I recommend a game show!

I dont think Rahm has a problem with Food trucks, but think if you had a place in the loop, paying $5000 a month in rent serving hot dogs and RONNIE WOO WOOS DOGTRUCK parks right in front of your place serving it's hot dog. I think you'd be pissed and call your local politican.

When I said he likes them, I wasn't being sarcastic. They're all over the place. Daley would have a stroke if he saw what was happening to his nice little town. I just need someone to grease Rahmbo's palm to get the Churro guys back on the street corners.

I know he digs them, it is part of that hip internet Sili Valley vibe he is going for, but he keeps a tight leash on those licenses.

I am OK with sitting down to eat my food not from a truck

Gene and Jude's is as Chicago as you're gonna get, even if it is in River Grove. John DiFronzo lives over by there.

I don't know, but his fries aren't particularly good and I can't tell a noticeable difference between the duck fries and the regular ones except that they cost twice as much. Gene & Jude's or Jimmy's fries are far, far superior. Just like Abreu.

Don't know how long he's been in business but back in the late 90s, early 2000s when he was at Roscoe & Western, you could get in and out in two minutes. It was definitely a cut above your average neighborhood hot dog joint. When the Foodie-Media industrial complex took hold he became an unlikely star. Really nice guy though--I don't begrudge him anything. He's probably quitting to develop a "concept" with a private equity firm. Heh.

I'm guessing he has a trust fund. He went to Latin. Probably doesn't need to work at all.

And yeah, he's a nice guy, but when I want a fuckin' hot dog I don't want to stand there for a half hour while some douchebag verbally fellates Doug and they get into a drawn out conversation about how great Public Image Limited and the Buzzcocks were. And from now until October it's just going to be worse with people weeping in line and then thanking him as if he cured cancer rather than just running a fast food joint.
