What we saw yesterday was one of the major problems with how the Bears dealt with Cutler. They couldn't even consider Manziel or Bridgewater because it would be a waste to pick a QB in the first 3 rounds this year, and the first 2 rounds next year. Cutler basically has to be the quarterback for the next 3 years. Emery could have had Bridgewater as the #1 player in the draft on his board and he could not have drafted him. This will be a major problem next year, unless Cutler is horrible next year, which is an entirely different problem.

Now, they'll likely take a late round flyer on a guy who will be lucky to be in the league in four years and then they'll hope they get the once in every ten years or so late round talent that develops into a true franchise quarterback.

It's interesting the Bridgewater, the third quarterback taken, was drafted into by far the best situation and in my opinion has the highest chance of success. He won't make as much money on his first deal but he doesn't have to overcome as much as the other two.

I imagine when Bortles wakes up today and realizes that he is now the starting quarterback of the Jaguars he'll feel like a guy who drank too much and blacked out and immediately regrets the actions of the night before.

Brick worry about your jets.

Bortles will be better QB than bridgewater

I would have thought that on Wednesday. Today, I'm not so sure.

Bridgewater is going into a great situation for him.

Not bitter. Just think its a joke how much of an "event" this has become. I don't get it. Most of these guys will be nothing in the NFL, yet fans salivate over every second.

I'm high on Bridgewater. Doc didn't seem to be a fan.

I think he could be OK. I don't think playing outside in Minnesota is going to help him at all.

I think his arm strength is a question. I can't really gauge how good it is. Also, just heard Boomer questioning his true speed and elusiveness in the pro game. Agreed on that point also.

My gut on this says he's a serviceable NFL starter for a while. A guy who could win with pieces around him.

I would think maybe Nix. I should correct what I said, they did not say target DL but target front 7, but I would almost think it has to be a DL

La Canfora says:

Hearing Nix could go HOU at 33, Lee at 35, Carr at 36 (Dallas could trade up for pass rush here. Amaro or pass rusher at 37. Su'a-Filo 38

For what that's worth. Not sure of the consensus on JLC here....

Had to give up their 2nd and a 3rd to move up but they had a glut of picks, so yeah.

They get DeMarcus Lawrence, Boise St. DE.

Apparently Oakland's also trying to move up.

Texas A&M guy. Was to be like the next Zack Thomas. Little undersized, hard worker, hard nosed.

CBS draft tracker had up Lee for Cleveland here and then changed it to an OL.

Meh. Not a Jernigan guy myself. I wouldn't cry if the Bears grabbed him in the 2nd but his highlights never really impressed me. He's a run-stuffer, which the Bears need badly, but his feet seem stuck in the mud. I'd rather have his teammate Talvin Smith and convert him to safety.
