Were the Rams aware of the reality show he was filming?

I don't believe so, that came out after the draft. I just don't see how they can be happy about that.

Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and say that no one, players included, are happy about that. And it isn't a 2-bit show, either, it's an OPRAH production.

Yeah talk about putting the Rams in a tight place. Now you have a camera crew following around your 7th round pick. If he sucks like most 7th rd picks do he gets cut and you look like jerks. You almost have to keep him on the team now.

If he can't play, it will be very tough to keep him on your roster. They are so limited with their roster, you can't just put somebody on there that you have no intention of playing.

Wait...so a GM isn't gonna pass on a guy, just because he's gay, because they want to make the best football decision...

...but they are going to be worried about cutting a guy who sucks because doing so makes them look bad? Even if cutting him is the best decision?

Actually if Sam is bad, the TV show & circus could lead to Sam being cut sooner, & I think people might understand the team not wanting to deal with the added distractions.

Yes. It's pretty simple. Cutting him now makes it look like you are punishing him for all of this off field activity. The general public doesnt know that he is bad or good at football, they just see the Rams cutting this brave pioneer. Now you have idiots protesting that dont know anything about football.

I didn't say you said it. Just the vibe I'm getting from a lot of people in this thread. On one hand people want to say his being gay had nothing to do with him slipping because if he's worthy of being picked, no GM is going to not pick him. On the other hand, we have multiple people saying now they can't cut him because it would make them look bad.

I've been pretty consistent in my defense of the gays, but I would totally understand if a team didn't want to draft or keep him because of the media distractions. I don't think his stock fell because he was gay. It fell because there will be a media circus. Not necessarily Sam's fault, but the distraction will be present.
