Short of Coach Q saying he'd rather have Anaheim, there's nothing intelligent or rational behind anyone else's idea that Anaheim would be the preferable opponent.

Sometimes the on-air fawning and preening of his offspring - while of course understandable to a certain degree as it is with most parents - is as distracting and I dare say embarassing as Dusty Baker (et al) having his kid on his lap during postgame interviews.

Kings up 1-0 early on a Justin Williams power-play goal. Add another Game 7 tally to his list.

Carter and Richards add goals, 3-0 Kings with a few minutes left in the first. Hawks staying put for a few days.

Did you see that Quick poke check? Ballsy. And this game is becoming a laffer.

Let's hope not. I want the Ducks to throw everything they've got at the Kings. I still want them to lose, of course, but I don't want them to go down easy. Fortunately, they have a bevy of dipshits on their team. Go on, Corey Perry, be the dipshit we know you can be.

This game is kinda why I wanted to see the Ducks instead. Rookie goalies tend to shit the bed, I don't think you'll see Quick do the same thing next round.

Possibly the greatest rookie season in the history of the league:

1992-93 Winnipeg Jets
Goals: 76
Assists: 56
Points: 132

Doesn't have to shit the bed, just has to give up more than our guy does, which tends to happen.

Good Kid Bruce Boudreau is now 1-5 in elimination games.
Q is 12-2.

The NHL would be better if the following teams disappeared tomorrow:

Anaheim
Carolina
Columbus
Dallas
Florida
Nashville
Phoenix
Tampa Bay

4 of those teams have won a Cup in the last...........15 years??? Maybe less?

You're opening sentence has absolutely nothing to do with your concluding list of teams. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised by that, do you actually think about what you type? Are your sports-related posts supposed to actually make sense? Because this one......does not.

Yes. Anaheim was a sham of an expansion, engineered by the former owner of the Los Angeles Kings as a ploy to claim territorial infringement fees. There's no reason why Los Angeles can't serve the entire Southern California market. In fact, the Kings probably could have done well to move to Anaheim and focus on Orange County.

Quote:
Carolina

YES. The Hartford-New Haven-Springfield corridor gives you the same population and same white-collar sector that Raleigh does, with the added benefit of GIVING A FUCK ABOUT HOCKEY.

Quote:
Columbus

Yes. No one cares about Columbus.

Quote:
Dallas

No. It would be foolish not to make inroads somewhere in Texas. It should never have come at the expense of the North Stars, but there should be a team there.

Quote:
Florida

Eh. If they had stayed in downtown Miami, it could have been a worthy pursuit, but decamping to an outlet mall in buttfucking nowhere has been trouble for them.

Quote:
Nashville

Yes. Small, not terribly wealthy outside of Brentwood, basically subsists on Red Wings fans whose assembly-line jobs were moved to a labor-hostile state.

Quote:
Phoenix

Yes more than anything. I wouldn't have been averse to a Phoenix team under the right conditions, but these have never been the right conditions. Again, like Dallas, it should have been a planned expansion. It was worse in Phoenix because they were hustled off from Minneapolis (failed Jets relocation) to an arena that couldn't fit a hockey rink, then also moved out to an outlet mall in buttfucking nowhere, and now exist as a taxpayer-funded toy for some dudes from Calgary who talk about themselves as owning "one-thirtieth of the NHL."

Quote:
Tampa Bay

No. Tampa has always done respectably with the exception of the year or two that the Saw guy owned them, which was an era akin to a dog eating its puke while humping a couch. Even the years that they were owned by the Japanese mafia were okay. I think they were setting record crowds at the Trop.

Yea...rather than start a new thread, I consolidated. 2 posts in 1.
I could care less if 4 of those 8 teams have won a cup. The league would be better off without them. Fans don't give a shit about Hockey in those cities. How would the NHL survive without the legacies that have been left by the Ducks, Hurricanes, Blue Jackets, Stars, Panthers, Predators, Coyotes, & Lightning? If I must keep any off them, I would keep the Stars.
People in the South don't give a shit about Hockey.

Did we still think the Kings are the better option here, or was that 3rd qtr just a fluke?

As I havent really watched the Kings play this year, was that 3rd period them playing like they usually do, above their helmets or the Hawks playing bad?

The Ducks very well could have scored six goals in both games.

I thought the Hawks played really well the first 2 periods. After the goofy penalties and the Kings scored late in the second the Hawks changed. It just kinda went downhill. I think they can beat the kings in a 7 game series, in 6 games.
