After 40 years, he lost that right. Fuck him. Go die. No one gives a fuck about him, just like he never gave a fuck about them.

Isn't that some Lifetime movie? My gf was watching some movie about a rich old man who was trying to make amends with his daughter. Except in this case the daughter didn't know this was her real father.

My wife's father walked out on her, her mother and four siblings when she was 7. While he remained in the area he never made any effort to reach out to any of them. He eventually married a hooker, had a kid, and then killed himself a few years ago.

Since then my wife's aunt (her father's sister) and cousins have tried to reach out to my wife and her siblings. While some of her sisters do the Facebook with them, my wife wants nothing to do with any of them.

You hope he's dying?

You're a cold, cold man.

Maybe he's ashamed of his dwarfism and that's why he stayed away?

Don't know the details but I doubt I would deny someone their forgiveness as they move toward death and so on. Provided they could no longer hurt me I do not see the minus. For instance my dad has a relationship with us via phone and email but nothing that is remotely close to my mom. He feels good I feel ok as we talk about stuff and my kids know who he is. In the end what is the loss? Grudges taken to the grave generally have one loser.

update: Guy finally decided to answer her message. And his response was this was the first opportunity he saw to get involved in her life. He did not know where she was.

That is funny considering that the first 22 years of her life she lived in the same house on the same street with the same address that he knew about. He knew well enough to mail her a birthday card on her 21st birthday.

He could be losing his mental faculties. The mind is the first to go.

This whole situation makes me think about my own life...my mom left my dad and I when I was 6 months old. Claimed postpartum depression. I never saw her, but got sporadic birthday cards until I was 6 when all communication just stopped. I still got cards and presents from my grandparents at Christmas until I was 18, and they always came with the annual family newsletter...so my mom was living in Bartlett my whole life, and never even bothered...went on to have her own family, blah blah blah.

I can't complain. My paternal grandparents raised me for the most part, which was cool. But at the same time, the idea of what would I do if she tried to make contact at this point...my wife has even asked me about it...and the only thing I can think of is telling her to go fuck herself.

Your wife is a better person than I, Ralph.
