Because it's Peoria.

Good answer.

Careful now, PMatt already went after Baby Mc for similar thoughts.

He's not far off, spmack. And that was Washington, not Peoria.

The good thing is I don't think he could fuck up this job any worse than he did as the "Chief".

I have no idea why Cat would want to hire a guy like this. I wonder if he's cashing in a favor.

Don, you gotta tell me where you're goong with this. I'm a busy man.
I understand. This could be a tough thing to deal with. The important thing is that you have a partner who is supportive.

When I was at Conseco they employed ex-Secret Service for their security positions. These guys were packing heat at all times. What the fuck was that?

Assuming he put in at least 20 years and is 55 years old now, he can collect on his pension as well as whatever the new job pays.

After 911, many large companies have obviously stepped up their security efforts & there are lots of smaller security companies who employ ex military special ops types. They will send a team of guys to an Oil Refinery, manufacturing plant, whatever, & they will proceed to breach every hole in their current security system to show them where they are vulnerable. It isn't so much about protecting products, its about protecting the facilities, people, & intellectual property. I sell to one of these security companies & their business is growing so fast they cant take all the jobs that are offered to them.

I think it's a little arrogant that many of these companies think they are a "target" after 9/11.

Sounds like these "security" experts are bamboozling corporations to the tune of millions.

can anyone give me a good reason why we are indulging this conversation about Peoria on this board? Did the Sky have an off day?

A security breach at a waste water treatment facility, oil refinery or a chemical plant could be catastrophic for a lot of people, including shareholders.
Having an old fat guy walking the perimeter with a cap gun isn't enough anymore.

You're right, but Catepillar is just making machinery and engines. What kind of target are they?

I'm not saying they should completely ignore everything, but I don't think they should be worried about a terrorist strike at one of their facilities.

i love that a byproduct of european countries realizing that cyber-espionage was the future is that the mid-90s vga demo scene popped out of it. you start hardlining these kids into coding in asm at impressionable ages and well, yeah, you might wanna scroll some fractals too if you know what i'm saying.

also i'll never forget when i arrived at my hotel in galesburg IL and went into the hotel bar and began to notice that the locals seemed to have this problem where they were missing teeth. as i sipped my caucasian i chatted up someone and asked "so where does their crack come from?" and the guy chuckled and said "peoria"

first time i ever did a mapquest search for peoria illinois i ended up seeing streets like washington, jackson, madison, etc..... it's akin to that chris rock quote where he's like "why is it that martin luther king jr was a man of peace..... but you ain't never gonna find no peace on martin luther king drive?"

The other night I saw a provocative movie on cable TV. It was called The Net, with that girl from the bus.

The salary might be less, but I'm sure he's pulling his pension too so he'll be just fine. It will also be a lot less stress.
