I didn't dislike it, just not really something I would normally gravitate to. There were a few songs on there
I liked quite a bit. Just didn't understand what I thought was an odd performance on SNL.

Oh man, late '90s ska. That was an unfortunate week.

speaking of unfortunate, i just discovered that this band existed the other day. and watching their music video stuff, damn, you know, even though i think the KLF might owe these guys a little something in the way of inspiration(sample law stuff? some of the tryhard music video stuff? you know, some of the branding) i mean.... jesus christ. yeah.... even if i knew of these guys i dont think i was gonna press up my own SSS shirt when i was 14, call it a hunch.

i guess i'm the weird one here who can stick up for that 90s 3rd wave ska thing by saying that the toasters were one of the best live bands i've ever seen back when i saw them with let's go bowling and mephiskapheles.

but yeah, i mean, to this day whenever i hear ska i just think of some bosstones shit from a disney movie trailer like OMFG HIJINKS ABOUT TO ENSUE. it's kind of cheesy but there were some moments.... and i just found my old greenhouse tape so imma have to dub it to mp3 and see if it's any good. i liked their version of the star wars cantina song anyways... i bought a shirt back in my firehouse bowl days!

and now because of you Caller Bobs i have to dive into a few me first and the gimmes gimmes covers. uptown girl, science fiction double feature, wild world, and phantom of the opera. thanks for that.

That's part of her "schtick" this time around.

Glad to see you've come around, Bagels.

You think that's bad, I just listened to Reel Big Fish's "Take on Me" cover and now the rest of the critically acclaimed BASEketeball soundtrack because of this discussion

More embarrassing late 90s trend, ska or swing? Light 'em up Chicago!

Yeah that one rules. I've played it a whole bunch since it got ripped for the first time a few years ago, and the reissue was about as close as I've come to purchasing a physical album in ages. I love the back story too and the money from the new print "being kept in escrow."

Exactly. I read the review on P4K, and I thought, what a ridiculous sleeve - then read the story - and now I can't stop playing it.
:D
