The 3rd period was the worst period of Hockey that I have seen the Hawks play in a long time...& Crawford was just fucking awful. But thats Corey...he will stand on his head & win a bunch of games & then shit the bed.

I haven't turned on him. It's just that the last few games have featured Crawford bailing us out of insufficient outings and the penalty kill doing a great job. You can't rely on those forever, because eventually this happens. Crawford is still a terrific goalie and highly underrated, but the fact that he's prone to the occasional four-goal period will always prevent people from putting him on a tier with Lundqvist, Price, Rask, Quick, and Howard, no matter how good he is the rest of the time. Unfair, I know, especially because most of his bad play took place in the 2012 season, but those bad memories are why Mike Smith makes Olympic teams and he doesn't.

The PK was riding an unsustainable high, too. Bollig has now cancelled out the power-play goal he drew with the one he caused. He can go now.

Seems like teams are figuring out how to play the Blackhawks and slow them down. I think the talent gap isn't as big as it once was. This is going to be a hard series to win now, especially if they dump game 3. Having to win a game 4 or go down 3-1 is not a position I want to see them have to face. They were essentially 1 period and a 2 goal lead away from being up 2-0 and imploded. That's gonna hurt.

I think the 4 goal period is over blown, was it game 3 in the boston series where they had the dreaded 3 goal in the third periood and boston won in regulation.

It happens to the best. Not to say Corey is truely elite, i just don't see the gap between those names.

Exactly and every other goalie listed here that is supposedly better than Crawford has had periods just like that.
