I suggest the answer is Louie.

It has moments of being really great but more and more I find the show boring and uninteresting. It's cool that Louis CK does basically everything for the show but it really comes off as amateur a lot of the time. There are whole episodes that go by where I don't even crack a smile, and ultimately a show named after a comedian should be funny at least once per episode.

Other nominees:
Parks and Recreation
Community(well, not any more)

Yeah, what happened between the last season and the current season of Louie? Turned into a drama. Weird.

Haven't seen Louie yet, but I'll give you Parks & Rec and Community. Everyone's always going on about how "heartwarming" Parks & Rec is. They do this more than go on about how funny it is because it isn't very funny. The people who love this show are probably the same people who loved The Office when it was The Jim & Pam Being Really Cool Show.

Community is just the internet watching itself jack off.

Everyone thinks it sucks now.

I still like it a lot, especially for a network show.

Ahh ok...I never really found it THAT funny and it seemed to used to be a show everyone was telling me to watch.

Carry on.

What was cool about it was how truly different it was. Combining actual real science and a sitcom is pretty hard.

Now, it's pretty much just a standard sitcom, including some of the characters becoming more cliched.

All Chuck Lorre does is crap out the most by-the-book sitcoms around, so I'd be very surprised if it were really that different.

It's a fact that it is significantly different. That doesn't mean you will think it is good but it is certainly unlike anything else ever done.

They had actual scientists who were well known in the fields needed helping write and correct jokes to be accurate.

The show isn't funny.

Why should it matter if real scientists make sure the "jokes" are accurate if the jokes aren't funny?

Bad show.

It's because the topic is whether or not it is the same run of the mill garbage that permeates television. It isn't.

Not everyone gets science. It's ok.

Accurate or not it's a bad show and it's also paint by numbers.

Name some sitcoms you like then, preferably on network television, and not on TV land.

It is a show that focuses on jokes pertaining to the other characters' awkwardness / intricacies with dashes of sex jokes mixed in.

It might as well be Two and a Half Men.

Big Bang Theory is solid for being a network sitcom. Low bar there.

I need pittmike to weigh in on this before I buy the notion that this show is scientifically accurate.

That is pretty much all comedy though. I mean, the Cosby Show could be described similarly, and I don't really think The Big Bang Theory and The Cosby Show are similar.

lol man once again you come out with a sigworthy quote. i personally watched that for S1 into S2 but by S3 i was done. i already read 4chan (/arse/ represent) so i've got my daily dose of memetics... i dont need it on NBC to validate anything.

joel mchale is perfect on the soup tho. he straddles the line between aloof asshole and "vintage letterman style you're in on the joke with us" brilliantly, whereas someone like daniel tosh..... man, seriously, i dont have the default alpha male punch you in the face gene very often but it happens with him. and even hardwick was annoying on web soup.... so you gotta give mchale that..... he's got one appointment-viewing-every-week show that he's held down for about 8-10yrs and he could easily do another 8-10 because i dont think he's really gonna end up being a bigtime leading man somewhere else. i wonder if he's decent at standup.

donald glover had the right idea to get out before the show went completely back downhill and up dan harmon's ass. his childish gambino LP "because the internet" is pretty good but instead of being really good in a certain way he can't pick a lane and tries to be everything (good/deep rapper, jester, meme-spouting-pop-sensation, silly dadaist rapper, etc) and that'll be his downfall with that stuff. again idk if his standup comedy is any good outside of white people "in on the joke" with community going out of their way to like him cuz the idea of rappers intimidates them if it's not "one of the good ones"

I couldn't tell you an actual sitcom that I've taken the time to sit down and watch repeatedly. Big Bang Theory was the one I tried with, but it failed me.

Once again the "This sucks but I can't name something that doesn't suck" thing is a pretty useless statement to make.

You hate all sitcoms. It's cool. Just like you don't get science, maybe you don't get sitcoms.

lol damn.... i personally dont hate childish gambino at all. glover's much better than i thought he'd be.... he really tries to go out there with some of his similies and stuff and he says some damn clever things.

he just needs to pick a lane with what kind of rapper he wants to be. if he wants to be a clever guy saying clever shit and not try to sell records en masse as his #1 priority (instead utilizing his celebrity to get people to upgrade their default tastes) i think he can do it.... but he's trying to be all things to all people which is just gonna fall short in the end.

but hey his last video is nice.... they did it in 2-3 shots even though they really want you to think they did it in one shot (cuz when it went off of him at the sign after he steps back inside they obviously cut it. at least someone's trying something different with rap videos) >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExVtrghW5Y4

and any rapper who just str8up says "y'all fuck boys like socrates" can't be all-wrong in my book!

edit: HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH this video ends up ripping off cunningham/aphex's windowlicker! omfg..... man, idk if that's donald glover doing a "homage" to windowlicker or if he just bit it outright because he knew the average popculture tard has never seen windowlicker b4 >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MBaEEODzU0

Parks and Recreation

I didn't watch Parks and Recreation it's first year because it seemed too much like The Office. I kept hearing how good it was and eventually started watching towards the end of Season 2, then watched Season 3, and rented Season 1 on DVD. I think April's character is awful. She's supposed to be snarky/quirky/witty/whatever, but she's not. Her lines are pointlessly mean-spirited and not funny, and she's kinda dumb. Tom is a muppet. The other characters are sometimes funny and I mainly keep watching out of habit. It's good that it's ending.

I think the last legitimately funny episode I recall from the last several seasons was from this past season when the episode focused on the guys doing things to celebrate Ben's birthday.
