I won't answer for Darko but I will answer. What is some shit comes down and I feel the need to engage. Assuming I am in the right but become injured or other wise incapacitated. What good does a bio metric gun do when I toss it to my fully trained son to save our ass? Just saying.

Like I said, also designates. But it would greatly curtail the instances of 5 year olds accidentally shooting somebody and would make straw purchasing a hell of a lot harder.

I truly don't mean this to be dickish, but you seem to discount every study or opinion that even questions the safety of guns. Guns are not toys, so let's not make them out to be. They can kill someone instantly. That doesn't mean they should be banned, but we also shouldn't act like owning them is the same as owning a garbage disposal.

Personally, I have no use for a gun, so I'm not taking the risk of owning one for no reason. They would provide me no benefit or joy, so even a minimal chance of injury to me or my family is not worth it.

I not discounting it at all, I'm simply providing perspective to the statistics. Truth is that people that use guns to scare people off without shooting the guns aren't included in your statistic. When you include them, guns and the threat of use of guns are far more likely to be used to prevent a crime than to be involved in an accident.

Of course owning guns is serious. Very serious. If you've ever gone shooting with me I would have made you NUTS with my "toolbox talks" that I do before I allow anyone near me with weapons. Even when I go shooting with the Military guys I go shooting with we still sit and talk about safety and what we're doing, how and why. We do this with people who have been trained for years on weapons, and the same guys do it the same way each time, even though we've all had the same conversation dozens of times.

Ok, if you have no use for a gun, please, don't buy one. I wouldn't want you to have one if you don't want one.

But, just sayin, if the reason is because of the risk of injury, there's hundreds of things you do daily that are considerably more dangerous than owning a gun.

It's not a fucking study ... it's a shitty application of obvious implications disguised as "statistics".

Nobody ever fucking whines and moans and goes on Nancy Cunting Grace about how much more likely you and your children are to meet your horrifying demise from drowning when you put in a swimming pool, but it's just as "true" as these insights unearthed by these gun "studies".

Ranks right up there with the brilliance of "you're more likely to have an auto accident close to home".

You know what else curtails the instances of a 5 year old accidentlly shooting someone or themselves? Good parenting and being smart with weapons.
Guns ARE serious business. You cannot "take it back".
Although non members aren't nearly as privy to it as members are, the NRA is VERY safety conscious. They're crazy with it but that never really goes mainstream. Of course, it's their own fault because they don't spend as much time or money screaming about safety as they do other things publically.

I truly believe that most do, Spiral. All the gun guys I shoot with are pretty serious.

I think you're right, I just wish it was all people rather than most. Wishful thinking I know.

Depends I guess. Not a lot of the army guys I used to shoot with gave much a shit. If you didn't watch where your muzzle was pointed you would get decked, but that's NEVER a problem with people who know what they're doing. Outside of that not much was said. I'm guessing age difference between our respective peers was likely a factor.

Oh yeah for sure. I wish most people drove safely and didn't talk on the phone or text while driving too. Shit that's pretty damn dangerous. But there's no IQ test for either a drivers license or gun ownership.

 That's funny... the guys I shoot with mostly these days are rescue dive trainers at Great Lakes (sand one state trooper). I saw one of these fuckers drop his rifle and punch his brother because he swung (an empty) gun past his head.

Who exactly are you addressing? I didn't quote anything - I listed stats I remembered off the top of my head as reason why I wouldn't own a gun. Are you capable of having a discussion without acting outraged and holier than thou? It is quite possibly the most tired act on this board.

You would love the BRM portion of Basic Training. Seen two privates get hit in the stomach with a butt for tipping their muzzle towards a DS, and another one who had his rifle taken from him and get hit over the head(he had a helmet on) with it for doing the same thing. And a 4th guy did it and the DS was like ten feet away and comes charging at him and he dropped his rifle and hit the deck in the fetal position

Basic Training is like 95% shitty/5% some of the funniest shit I've ever seen in my life.

How is any of that "holier than thou"? Speaking of tired, weak-assed board tropes ..... particularly coming from someone pretty much as red-assed as I am.

If you thought I was taking you specifically to task, then that's unfortunate as it wasn't the case.

So, how do you access the gun and load it quick enough to use on the robber?

I think my big problem here is when people use tragedy like this to further an agenda. What Joe is doing here isn't much different then when Sandy Hook happened and everyone became an anti-gun person.

Rational decisions shouldn't be made at times of high emotional periods.
