So if Bryant is at third...is Alcantara the odd man out in the infield?

If this is really Baez' usual dominant mid season, I think he's up in July

As of today he has 365 ABs (218 AA + 147 AAA) in the high minors. He needs to get to 500-600 and IF he continues to dominate at his current level he will be promoted.

.211/ .278/ .415 is an odd definition of domination. I'll have to check with Joe Sheehan.

Baez has a nine-game hitting streak for Triple-A Iowa, compiling a .378 batting average (14-for-37) during that span with six doubles and three home runs.

Just a short span, but with the recent history its reasonable to assume he'll follow his usual trend

"IF" he dominates.... he hasn't at this point of his first season in AAA but his track record shows he has been dominate even while playing 3+ years above his age level. He needs more time and there is no reason for him to get pushed. After 500-600 or more ABs in the high minors is when a player should be considered for promotion.

JORR It's easier to check with Rany or Christina since they are both in the hood.... Joe is all the way in NYC.

I'll check with Rany if I have a skin condition.

Bryant should get promoted very soon. 4 walks today. Teams are now pitching around him.

I don't get the service time thing. Pay him now pay him one year later. I imagine they are pissing him the fuck off now. Maybe that makes him leave to somewhere else at first chance if he is that good?

I mean what if he says fuck you Cubs you kept me down too long I will sit and do arbitration every year and go to Yankees first chance? None of these young guys are guaranteed to stay.

I would guess the Cubs want to send him to AAA, but have an issue with 3 infield prospects (who all have a chance to make it to Chicago), already there. They moved Alcantara to the OF yesterday, maybe that's the play they will make. Move him to the OF, Baez to 2B and Villanueva to SS, and put Bryant at 3B.

Either that or they have to move Bryant to the OF, which could make sense, but with Olt not looking like a world beater and Villanueva struggling at AAA, they may want to keep him at 3B.

I'd still go with Baez at 3rd, Bryant in OF. Alcantara remains at second.

Sign a leadoff CF next offseason...1 or 2 year deal and roll through the World Series!

Also Kris Bryant is far superior than any other player in the Southern League. OPS .130 higher than the second best.

So you're happy just plugging Rizzo in there at 1B for the next 5+ years?

Bryant should be purchasing a 1B mitt.

He was drafted less than a year ago. If he comes up at all this year it will be considered a "rush" to the majors

And no one in their right mind would go thru mulitple years of arbitration and risk injury instead of a long term deal.

I'm certainly not planning to replace Rizzo. Even during his slump, he has an OPS of .700. If that is the worst Rizzo ever is during a stretch ...I'm very happy with him at 1B.

It's a nice luxury for the Cubs to have the two best 1B in Chicago in their organization.

I was just looking at the Cubs major league payroll. Soriano is the highest paid player at $14M this year follow by Edwin Jackson at $13M. The Yankees are picking up $5M of the $19M, thus leaving the Cubs on the hook for $14M.

Slump? He is still far above career averages. You ain't seen nothing yet in terms of slump.

I don't put all that much into career averages on a very fresh career. Last year, pitchers adjusted to him. This year, for the most part, he has re-adjusted, especially against LHP. Over the last 2 weeks or so, he has slipped in hitting performance. I expect he will pick it back up and approach a .900 OPS for the season.

Hitting only becomes easier as the season progresses, according to baseball traditionalists.

I know Abbatacola has said he won't be happy with a championship. He wants multiple championships. I guess we can all be hopeful about our teams but for fans of most teams it just doesn't happen that way. There may not be any glory in winnning 80 games, but it's a lot more fun than losing 100.

As a Sox fan, I'm happy with my team playing around .500 for most seasons, winning 90 every once in awhile, and getting a World Series now and then. I think I'd be pretty happy if I saw four World Series appearances and three wins in my lifetime. It seems the Cub fan wants to go from being horseshit to being the Yankees.

If I'm a Yankee fan, I want to win a World Series at least once every five years. If I'm a Cardinals fan, once every ten. For everyone else, winning one every twenty years isn't bad. But pipedreams are probably more fun.
