The rookies look like an expected mix bag so far. So what exactly is going on with the Ricketts ownership in year 5? I think the past 5 years have been the worst 5 year period in at least the last 50 years maybe more. The Cubs sucked in the 50's,got competitive starting in 1967,very good to poor in the 70's & 80's. 5 years in a row of crap from Ricketts but there are those on here that blindly keep tooting his horn.

Core Four update

Javier Baez
Shortstop, Iowa Cubs (AAA)

Thursday’s game: at Memphis, 0 for 4, 1 strikeout

Trending: 2 for 10, 4 strikeouts

Season so far: 40 games, .224 batting average, 7 home runs, 25 RBIs

Kris Bryant

Third baseman, Tennessee (AA)

Thursday’s game: At Huntsville: 1 for 4, 1 home run, 1 walk, 1 strikeout

Trending: 4 homers in past 6 games

Season so far: 52 games, .347 batting average, 15 home runs, 45 RBIs

Jorge Soler

Outfielder, Tennessee (AA)

Injured (hamstring)

Season so far: 7 games, .333 average, 0 home runs, 7 RBIs

Albert Almora

Outfielder, Daytona Beach (A)

Wednesday’s Game: 0-for-4, 1 strikeout

Trending: 0 for 8, 3 strikeouts

Season so far: 46 games, .259 average, 2 home runs, 24 RBIs

Im confident that Bryant and Baez will be good major league players

Not sure on the other two. Could be busts. Could turn out good. Not looking great for either of them so far though.

And Jimmy nobody is tooting Rickett's horn

.224 batting average, 7 home runs, 25 RBIs is Rizzoeqsue

Bryant for being so young and being in AA where there is a lot of talent has some outstanding numbers.

Agreed but I reserve the right to disagree for argumentative purposes.

Soler looks like a Mr. Glass even if he proves he can play. I've never understood the overwhelming love for Almora. I see him like David De Jesus, which is great in that he is a solid MLB player who does a lot of good things, but he is not a game changer.

Whatever the case, I am confident will somehow screw it up.

There was nothing when Ricketts got the Cubs.....overpaid old players and an empty farm system. That farm system is now rated #4 overall. You don't build a farm system overnight. The damn thing takes time to do right. We all know most minor league talent does not turn into stars. There will be more misses than hits. The key is having depth.

I know most people do not like the plan. However, they have a plan.

dudes, the cubs need to go and #FreeCoreyDickerson from the rockies. idk which board-of-directors guy's wife he's been caught fucking in the past, but my guy "HARD DICK" (think "HARD BAKE" like when laurence does the people's hour COLON we do what we want) was a 29th round draft pick of a 5'10" little white boy who has this nagging problem where he puts up #s everywhere he plays. seriously look at his minor league stats.... 1500 at bats and a career .981 OPS in the minors, with 1.000+ OPSes at the end.... and then look at his stats this year:

Corey Dickerson :: 2014 Stats :: COL AB: 74 RBI: 13 BB: 8 GP: 34 HR: 5 H: 26 OPS: 1.054 SLG: .649 R: 14 SO: 18 2B: 5 CS: 2 3B: 1 AVG: .351 WAR: 0.9 OBP: .405 SB: 2

only 75 at bats and the guy is doing a cool .351/5/13/2 (sorry that stats bot displays the stats in a weird order) and he still can't get at bats because charlie blackmon is a 2nd round pick and stubbs was a FA/trade/something.

i mean how often do you have a kid hitting .351 and slugging 1.054 and yet you can't find him at bats? or even at least send him down to the minors to get everyday at bats.... or well maybe they know he has nothing to prove down there cuz he'll just go down and mash and then be called up and have to sit on the bench 3/4 days before coming in and going like 1/3 or 2/4 with a run here, a HR there, or etc....

this guy would prolly be awesome if the cubs got him and gave him a OF gig.... you'd then have an OF of lake, bonifacio/whoever, and dickerson.... it'd work. or hell dickerson can play center and you can put bonifacio at 2B and then keep on trotting out your tradebait schierholtz or your garbage like ryan kalish.

and the kicker? since he's a 29th round draft pick who they wont even give everyday at bats to despite hitting .350+ and slugging 1.057 in 75 at bats (which is tricky to do when you consider there was an injury that allowed him to MAYBE play 1-2 weeks of everyday at bats and thats it. most of this is as a bench player, not even a part time player) and yeah. rah rah rah.

however, nobody wants to #FreeCoreyDickerson so i guess i'm stuck with him sitting there pondering "what if?" on my team in nas' deep league. c'est la vie.

I think it just has to keep being repeated that Baez was Hendry's pick. So the #1 guy everyone is hanging their hopes and dreams upon was already in this "bad" system. Now, remove him from the discussion and tell me just how impressive this restructuring is to you. Also remember that they denuded the big club to make the minor leagues look better.

I call bullshit on minor league depth being the key. The key is having players with superstar potential. The Cubs have that but the biggest star in the galaxy came here before this backwards logic rebuild began.

At this point I prefer Hendry's Plan of pillaging the poor teams for their young players like Aramis Ramirez and Derrek Lee. What are the odds that Bryant and Baez et al become as productive as those two?

Hendry's plan requires massive spending. Unavailable to the Rickett's Cubs apparently.

Hendry also drafted Josh Donaldson (traded for Harden) who might be the MVP

Except for a certain vertically challenged afternoon radio host. He has been carrying a lot of water for Tommy Boy.
