Most Knife songs that aren't "Heartbeats" aren't very good.

The corvette museum where a sinkhole swallowed several vintage vettes is in Kentucky, south of where they are fracking eastern Ohio and western PA. They do have smaller fracking ops in Eastern KY, according to google.

For centuries engineers were concerned about the foundations of homes, buildings, cities. Until the pr battle was fought to make fracking a good thing. Nevermind the chemicals they said, they're safe. Foundations....you must be kidding, fracking won't effect foundations.

And lets not let the assholes (incl. the governor) in NC and the state of Duke Energy, nor the clowns in West Virginia first covering up the mercury/arsenic/lead/etc  actively poisoning the drinking water with leftover chemical sludge from other mining operation accidents.... w/o any expectation of consequences.

Government is evil. The private sector is good. They know what is best, and they always do the right thing.

Solar panels are already pretty cheap. Chinese solar panel, cell & wafer manufacturers are selling product in Europe below market value, causing major sales & profit problems for European solar manufacturers. Siemens decided to divest itself from their solar business last October but could not find a buyer & decided to close all of their solar factories & they are now out of the business.

Both the solar & wind energy industries are struggling badly.

So, we should abandon them because they aren't highly profitbale now?

How many technological breakthroughs were successes immediately?

the panels have become marginally affordable. still costs close to $10k for a full sized system on a house, and double that if you want battery storage. chinas government subsidizing the panels doesnt make them cheaper, but it should mean they will be able to perfect the manufacturing process quicker. they are not easy to make.

How long should companies be expected to lose money on wind power before it's deemed a loss? The problem is that alt energy works better on small scales vs large.

Things will likely take care of itself, and solar and wind won't be the major reason why.

If we ever truly needed a replacement for oil, nuclear would be the option based on current technology. I would guess that in 20 years that hydrogen is probably the best replacement.

Solar and wind aren't reliable enough to be what the world runs on. It does have a future as a secondary option.

Not those exact words, but profit is the important thing in your world, as evidenced by your desire for a business man to be president.

If you could make 6 figures and be on vacation 3 to 6 months out of the year, wouldn't you take that job?

Of course fracking's not safe. Watch Gasland and Gasland II. Gasland II has the retired oil company drilling engineer explain why there's no such thing as safe wells--over even a near-term, 5-10 year timeline, the majority of the wells leak and leach chemicals/gas into the surrounding area.

Gasland II also demonstrates why fracking is unstoppable--every person who had a complaint in that movie got paid/bought off by the oil companies by the end of the movie, including the guy who made it.

What does that have to do with fracking, and how unsafe it is?

I saw Gasland I, and I agree with you completely. Unfortunately, there are many people who don't, and I have no idea why. It's not a coincidence that Oklahoma is experiencing a record number of earthquakes.

I'd rather make money fracking than deal w/ the Illinois job market.
