pizza_Place: Four hours away....and on fire :-(
I would rather trip over a stroller than have some drunken dipshit telling me (unwarranted, mind you) about his fantasy football squad.

9 times out of 10 they are a crime ring. Such encounters are usually followed by security alerts from one's credit card company.

It's hard work, but it isn't unexpected. I knew fully what we were getting into, when we chose to have kids. I knew that there would be little, if any time, to go to concerts, bowling, golfing, out to bars, etc. I understand that nobody wants to hear me bitch about kids, so I don't.

That sounds like my brother-in-law. He doesn't want kids of his own. He can come over, play with them for a few hours, and then go home alone. It's perfect for him.

I understand Kirkwood's frustrations. But the stroller thing is silly. Unless someone is running into you with it, it shouldnt affect you.

Really troubling news, he or she will come out of the womb stacking quotes of their dislike of human life on the day they are born.

I actually enjoy when kids are around in most any situation because it's normally funny to watch them act like jerks and the parents who have to just deal with it. However, those same parents would probably find other kids annoying too if they went in the parenting club.

This is a good point. "Oh, my kids are a handful."

"Yeah, your kids are a handful."

"THEY ARE ANGELS. WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU KNOW?!"

edit: That being said...I don't have a side to take in this thread. Well behaved kids with intelligent and courteous parents are no problem in any setting. Obnoxious children with can't-be-bothered parents do not belong in any environment.

Agreed but that's not just kids. Any family. I can talk shit about them...YOU cant.

 Sheetz MTO. Cory is likely similar to my end of PA. There are some strange rules/laws about bars and such but they seem to work real well. Some places are real bars that have table and serve food. People come and even some younger folks but they come to eat and go. The parents are not hanging out at the bar for hours with the kids in tow which seems to be happening in Lincoln Park or whatever from what I read. Here the bars make rules no one under __? allowed after some time or not at all. It is their business. Never once saw a problem. We even have bars where you can smoke away all you want (as long as bar serves less than some percentage of the gross in food). Then it is a law no one under 21 allowed AT ALL EVER.

Terrible. Please list some examples of situations where I showed my moral superiority. I certainly haven't done it here. I just told you to stop whining, because you had to walk around one stroller in a bar.

Chas is an idiot. He rags on people spending gov't assistance on shoes and cell phones, but he can spend his in a bar.

You would probably come off a little better, if you stopped making this about me.

Partially. Like you, I thought I had every answer regarding parenting, before I had kids.

My larger point, is that you are going to deal with all kinds of suckage when you go out. Back in the day, the bars were full of smokers, which I hated, since I am a non smoker. What would the point have been to bitch about it? My choices were deal with it, or stay home.

Don't sweat the small things, Kirkwood.
Errr ummm so do you just inject the pot or snort it?

I insert it into my rectum, as a suppository.

I didn't know that I could take my kids into a bar. Miss a little miss a lot.

Parents who say their kids are a handful are usually bad parents or they're just looking for sympathy for living with kids. That being said no one has ever told me that my kids are bad. In fact they are usually surprised at how well behaved they are. Why? Because my kids are perfect angels.

Look at your post history. Plenty of examples. I can't find specific examples right now as there are a lot of nude photos. If someone saw me I'd end up unemployed and taking handouts like chas.

No he can answer too if he wants.

Some strollers are big or whatever but most people ask to get by and then are gone. It's not like parents follow people around from place to place with strollers, make him push one, or set it in their space. It's not hugely different than moving for an elderly person, short person, or large person.

A little bit of apples and oranges here. Kirkwood is mainly talking about Ukrainian Village, Lincoln Square, Lakeview, etc. The dynamics, pace, etc are a little more divergent, and sidewalk space a little more scarce. It's equivalent to someone driving a bumper car down the sidewalk at Clark and Belmont on a Saturday evening in June.

This is why they invented VFW Halls. Plenty of room. Not so many outlets.

I've never pushed a stroller in my life and I have 12 kids. Never had a problem not having one. I learned if I didn't make a big deal about having to walk or anything else they wouldn't either. I did make the mistake of not walking with a bag before. Took my son to the Bears game when he was 2. He was in the process of being potty trained to and had been doing well. Before we made it inside he told me he had to go to the bathroom. No problem at all. We found a corner without a lot of traffic and he got the opportunity to piss outside for the first time. Everything was perfect until midway through the 2nd quarter. He tells me he has to piss again but I tell him to wait because the Bears were driving for a score. Seconds later I feel the warm sensation of piss all over my leg and it felt as if it had gone on for mins. Even though he had on a pull up he still somehow pissed out the side of it. Fortunately it was warm that day and the piss was dry by the end of the game.
