Really liked it, didn't love it, but still easily the best X movie. Some fairly brutal scenes for PG-13. Solid acting from the people you expect it from, Jennifer Lawrence was passable. A lot of scenes similar to The Terminator and The Matrix, which kinda detracts from them, but what can you do, considering it was written before both of them came out. The time travel wasn't too convoluted. Quicksilver's "scene" was just as good as Nightcrawler's opening scene in X2, which is the best scene in all the movies, for me at least. Nice to see some old faces reappear. Anna Paquin is in it for maybe 10 seconds but her name I think ran 5th in the credits after Fassbender, Lawrence, McAvoy, and Jackman for some reason.

I don't mind Anna Paquin not being in it much (I heard her battle scene got cut). I never thought she was right for Rogue anyway.

Great movie, really enjoyed it.

Cast was solid, acting was solid...except for Jennifer Lawrence. The cast, as a whole, including all that are seen at the end and such........really nice touch. I like these X-Men movies, IMO it is as much or more about the people than it is about flashy super hero battles and that keeps it grounded.

I also agree that those killings were pretty brutal for a PG-13 movie.

All in all I give it a 5/5

Also, Age of Apocalypse is upon us.

Tear a guy in half? R. Tear a guy made of metal in half? PG13. Knock a guy's head off and step on in? R. Knock a guy's head off made of ice and step on it? PG13. Oh yeah, let's do it twice!

Mutants aren't human though. They're like Red Sox fans.

i'm not sure why there are ratings anymore when everything pretty much goes unrated on the DVD release. nothing's really rated G or PG anymore unless it's animated...and pretty much only kids go to see those.

Because the MPAA is made up of a group of self-important assholes who want to feel like they still have some power in this world?

If you watch any, X2 and First Class were good. The timeline of 1-3 and most of the students in First Class get wiped out in this movie anyway so it doesn't matter.

X2 is Phoenix right? I saw 1 and that one got Stryker in it. After that I was like fuck it. They got so much wrong that as a fanboy I could not go on. Like night and day,The Avengers/Marvel/Shield stuff Whedon is doing is so good and spot on compared to the shit from the other lines:X-Men,FF,Spiderman. I am looking forward to Daredevil(liked the movie) and Constantine.
You all hear they are looking to do another Serenity movie? Done before the last movie, would be cool, they are talking a mini series.

This was great. I'll say this is the best of the X-Men movies, even better than The Wolverine.

Quicksilver was good. I wonder how the Avengers version will compare?

What's the point of it being spot on if it's shit like Daredevil? I really liked Constantine, but you'll never get me to say it was a good movie.

Yeah, Quicksilver was even too good. He breaks Magneto out almost singlehandedly and they're like "thanks, we don't need you anymore, we've got this."

Daredevil was how can I put it good but a bad movie. It suffered from character overload. Too many things going on, like Spidey 3,Avengers could have went that way but it achieved an almost perfect balance. I loved Constantine, can not wait for the Series.
I am almost going to jump back into comics just need to not overload myself like usual.

I like the part when they're talking about Magneto's powers & Quicksilver says something like, "Yeah, my mom says she used to know a guy like that."

I enjoyed this too, saw it yesterday. Whenever time travel's introduced into a film, I always just go ahead and expel disbelief because there are just too many rules broken. at least here they try to cover their asses by saying consciousness is what's going back in time...even though logan is physically there too.

it's good fun; and, at times, emotional. it's what you want out of a summer action flick. i liked the "reunion" of sorts at the end, seeing everybody in all their healthy glory again.

it's funny that jennifer lawrence is now what people focus on for x-men. i was one of the few who even took notice of her in "first class", before she blew up...and her character was far weaker in that film. now, she's much stronger, and her acting skills have increased...but now she's overrated and useless. lol.

i kind of wish this was the last of any x-men film. the well is running dry and this would've been a good finale. but...i know that won't be the case.

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

Nonsense.

Plenty of solid story arcs they could lift from the comic books.

One of the problems with Lawrence is they went from an exhaustive hours long make up session with RR-S, basically a thong, 2 pasties, and buckets of paint, to just putting Lawrence in a blue bodysuit. I'm sure Lawrence appreciated not having to spend her life in the makeup truck, but Mystique just seemed off because of it.

There are too many X-men not too make more more movies and a soft reset opens them all up again except for the poor schmuks in First Class that got whacked. Apocalypse should be entertaining, although having a villain whose powers are basically anything the writers want him to have is kinda awkward. They can do Age of Apocalypse but I doubt they want two alternate universeish storylines in a row.

Age is taking its toll on the characters they have already introduced. Paquin and Page looked like the 30+ year olds they are, Magneto is barely able to move, even Halle Berry is showing her age.

Do you guys think that Apocalypse will have less Wolverine in it than the last 6 (not including 1st Class)?

It's supposed to be set in the 80s, so I wonder how they'll fit him in w/ the X-Men, considering how things ended w/ him in DoFP. I know in the end of DoFP, he ended up w/ the X-Men again, but I'm curious as to how he's going to get from A-Z (which I know the 3rd Wolverine film will cover, but that'll be the post-Apocalypse movie).

Hey nerds, what's the deal with that blue guy at the end juggling pyramids and making Egyptians quake?

Apocalypse

5000 year old mutant who has a god complex.

Pretty lame in that his mutant power in the comics is just about everything. Hopefully they tweek this a little...

I love that they basically rebooted the series without losing Jackman and a few of the others. We can pretend X3 never happened.

Also, We aren't sure if the "new" future Wolverine has the adamantium. We kind of assume he does, I guess, but we don't know for sure. I hope he's in the next one, though. I thought he worked well with McAvoy. Maybe he'll find his way to the Mansion after some brief Weapon X stuff...
