How so? I've been told I'm wrong. People with children live the "right way" and should be able to do whatever they want. You have carte blanche leash!

Just our situation.....

I wouldn't take our kids to a bar. They are pretty well behaved but there are plenty of other options for us to choose from. We have a good english-style pub by our house but it's more a eating place with a bar in it.

Don't argue with Irish Boy. He's a lawyer. Lawyers are smart.

That's what he said.

What about parents who bring their big children to bars?

I meant how can a bar get away with allowing small children inside without inciting the wrath of law enforcement.

I think it is dumb.

Maybe someone NEEDS to tell some parents that their kids are brats - might assist parents in realizing they need to step up?

I understand kids will be kids...but a trip to any public place shows a large difference in behavior.

Careful with that. It's quite possible somebody would have liked to have said something about your behavior to one of your parents.

My kid has been dancing in bars at least one a month or so since she was 6. Its been great. She sees first hand how dumb alcohol makes people and I'm pretty sure she will avoid it when she gets older.

My mom and dad were extremely strict with us. I can assure you...I was extremely well behaved as a child, or I'd have been beaten.

I wasn't allowed to leave a parents' side at stores...no touching any items on shelves...etc.

That's a vicious circle though. One of the main reasons the Irish drink so much is that the monotony of those reels drives them to it.

My wife bought one of those. I used it exactly zero times.

Long story short: Annoying the rest of the world is fine if you are doing it in service of your children.

Yes and no. Do I like the fact that I own an SUV and a minivan? No and fuck no. As soon as I can, I'm back into a car and my wife is back to her convertible...but that's going to be in about 14 years. However, it is virtually impossible to find a car that fits two infant car seats and a booster seat, in one row. But I was actually trying to parallel this to the stroller debate and I guess I failed.

We had a faculty member who taught with one, she had to be brought in and explained why she couldn't do it anymore. Apperantly her stay at home husband couldn't handle their baby crying. I also heard that she would feed it in class and that's what got her in trouble. That's a whole other discussion that I'm sure there is a thread or two on here dedicated to it.

I'm an asshat now to make up for the fact that I couldn't be when I was a child.

I don't think we've arrived at the point in the relationship where I introduce you to my folks.

That's why I said 14 years. At that point, my youngest will be 18, so theoretically there will be no more kid taxi.
Oh and soccer and softball have begun...

Man, a thread about little kids hanging out in bars seemed more suited for Keeping Score's board.
