What are you going to do to pass all of the time between the Cubs pick and the Sox pick?

Yeah, last season was bad. For both teams.

At least there is on MLB GM in this city who has what it takes to turn the big league club around without losing over 300 games thru the process.

Really his only move that's worked is Abreu. Eaton sucks. Avi sucks. Davidson isn't even a major leaguer. A mirage of competency.

Yeah, he did a great job of getting Alexei to actually play baseball.

Ill bet you didnt count on one of your fellow Sox fans coming along and touting a GM who is sporting a 31-30 record (after debuting with a 99 loss season) in a post where you called out people for low expectations.

Revisionist history, RPB. Look at the preseason posts for the Sox. The MOST optimistic post was for a .500 club this year. Most people were saying right around 77 wins, which may still happen but going from 63 wins to 77 wins is a pretty solid improvement. It appears that the Sox can be and should be better than 77 or 78 wins. Sure they have looked bad at times, but given where they are now and they injuries they have dealt with they have shown they can be better than merely a .500 team, perhaps a lot better than just a .500 team. Expectations changed a bit.

None of that changes the validity of what I said in the slightest way.

You are in a thread touting a GM with a 31-30 record and a fellow Sox fan called out Cub fans for low expectations in the first post. Those are just facts.

We are judging the improvement much more than the actual record.

Do you think that helps or hurts idea that expectations are low?

Its not the best, but Sox fans were being realistic with that. 99 losses to .500 is a pretty good improvement.

When Theo took over it was, "hope to contend in 2014 or 2015." I'm not sure expectations can get any lower that wasting (at least) two full seasons.

I don't know how to phrase that. I mean, no one expects the White Sox to win the World Series, but to me expecting a team that was as bad as the Sox were last year to be a playoff contender isn't my idea of low expectations.

Guys this doesnt require deep analysis.

Frank made a post that can only be labeled as "having low expectations" in a thread that started with dolphin saying that about Cub fans. Its just a WYC. No big deal.

Frank I expect 110 wins and a World Series every year

The White Sox are currently on pace to win 20 more games than the year before. Being happy about that is in no way "low expectations".

Touting a GM with a 31-30 record and being happy about competing for the wild card are low expectations under any circumstances.

Dont speak for Frank. He's excited about the team.

I don't know about that. They're only three games behind a Detroit team that is supposed to be a juggernaut for the ages and they've had a whole lot of injuries. Avisail Garcia is like the Sox's Kris Bryant and they lost him for the season. Can you imagine?

The White Sox should worry about finishing above the Indians than setting their sights on the Tigers.

I'll make sure to repost this if the Cubs are competing for the WC spot in 2015 after losing 90+ games again this season.

Dont worry Kenny is on the case! You know he would like everyone to know he was Scouting Aaron Nola, because without Kennys scouting, no way rick Hahn signs Abreu, just ask kenny.

And the crap about kenny and Jerry going to see Aaron Nola is BS from my sources.

That shouldn't be hard considering they beat them nearly every time they play them.

I could've said the opposite last year. Their pitching staff 1-5 is superior and their lineup is starting to heat up. Brantley is quietly developing into an above-average outfielder and getting guys back like Bourn and Kipnis from injury. I'd also give the slight edge to Francona over Ventura in managing these guys over 162. The bullpen is their real Achilles heal but they just called up Hagadone who had a 14 K/9 in AAA. He was a guy who came along with Masterson in the Martinez trade. A Theo guy.
