Lived in DC during summers while in college. Once such DC summer Sunday, my buddy from high school and I were sitting on the stoop of our
Observatory Place/N. Gtown summer rental row house, drinking pitchers of what we called "Hemingways" (pineapple juice with rum).
Early evening, we ran out of juice and decided to go to the Safeway for more juice and maybe some foodstuffs.
Somehow we ended up going to a Safeway out in Bethesda (likely with the semi-drunken plan to stop by a sorta ex-gf's out there).
Turning off of River Road (or whatever the big road out there was called) to the access road to go into the Safeway strip-mall area,
we had to take a left and were the first car waiting to turn left once we got the light.
I'm driving and notice that the last car coming out of the turn-off to go into the Safeway strip-mall had pulled out a bit too far;
and instead of clearing the grid on the red, chose to sit with their car sticking half-way out into the intersection.
Being a 19 yr old fuckhead, I turned to my friend and deliberately kept looking at him and talking while making the left turn to go into Safeway,
headed directly for the front end of the car half in the intersection. The stuck left-turner starts going nuts, honking her horn while looking
frightened, according to my friend, (i'd later find out it was a she driving). As I planned from the moment I saw the car not clear the grid on the red,
I whipped the wheel to the right, and cleanly steered passed the stuck left-turner, down into Safeway.
Get out of the car laughing while my buddy curses my dumb ass "
what'd you do that for?! You scared them and me, ya fuckhead! yadda, yadda.Walking around Safeway, collecting juice and frozen pizzas and all of sudden there's some short dude walking up to us, asking if we had a 4 door
sedan with plates from such and such state? My slightly buzzed dumb-ass doesn't even connect short dude to the frightened left-turner and
declares, "
naw, but our plates look a lot like plates from that state".

Yeah, well, we'll see what you have to say when the police get here." Paraphrasing/recreating from
memory. Tho the memory's been aided by the dozens of times my buddy has told the story to others in my presence--as evidence of my terminal
stupidity.
Short dude stomps off, apparently to either calm down or call the police. We continue wandering Safeway in that aimless-but-with-a-purpose way
you do when you're not really accustomed to grocery shopping. We make our way back to the front to the registers and there's a MOTHERFUCKING
MONTGOMERY COUNTY SHERIFF's deputy cruiser out in the parking lot.
