Aww man, does that mean the Sox are going to lose 400 games over the next 4 seasons in order to get there?

As a rule abused college pitchers at the top of the draft are much more of a risk to bust / get hurt than elite college hitters.
Houston wants a time machine.

No. It's Gonna Happen. But only if the State of Illinois allows Jerry to have some more revenue streams at the park to pay for supplemental free agents.

Thanks, ElmhurstTommyTutone. Pitchers are more likely to get injured than hitters.

And in the NFL, safeties and running backs are more likely to get hurt than punters are.

Elmhurst?
Nice place to live but I wouldn't want to live there.

Glad you understood how risky an abused college pitcher is. I would say pass it on but the scout master will be sure to see it here.

Sounds like Phil Emery did a nice job with this pick.

Jim Callis: not the fourth best player in the draft. Cubs picked to use money later in draft.

Name 5 WhiteSox prospects off the top of your head

...
.
.?

Carlos Rodon
Matt Davidson
Micah Johnson
Jacob May
Spencer Adams

THE CORE FIVE! They will lead the White Sox to multiple championships between 2019 and 2024.

 I should have said TOP prospects. Davidson is the highest ranked 118. Not counting Rodon (you picked him up by tanking last season and Whitesox fans don't approve of that kind of strategy) Besides, Rodon will be a bust according to your theory of W/L's 6-7 in his last year at college.

Kudos thought for being the only one to actually try and answer the question and not give a deflection comment as an answer.

I can't name one White Sox prospect. Who cares?

Right. I don't root for the Charlotte Knights or the Birmingham Barons.

I've heard a lot about that rising powerhouse of a Cubs minor league prospect, Javier Baez. He's 1 for his last 15 with 7 strikeouts. Over 47 games at AAA Iowa, he is batting .215.

Looks like he will fit right in with the major league club.

Right. I don't root for the Charlotte Knights or the Birmingham Barons.

And this is why your team will NEVER be annual contenders. How do you expect to field a championship team and sustain a playoff run for multiple years?

Free Agents? WhiteSox are not going to spend like the Yankees or Dodgers.

Prospects? Not important according to you.

Coaching? Ozzie is gone

How do you expect to maintain a winning team? What would your JORR plan be if you where GM?

Brick and GD, same question to you.

I would hope that my GM could name 5 prospects in the White Sox organization.

Any other questions?

Not a believer in the Baez hype or believe Rizzo and Castro will ever be superstars.

But the future of the Cubs does not lie only on these three players. If 1/3 of the top prospects turn into ML above average players then we have a nice core to build around. It's not rocket science. The more bing bong balls you have, the better your odds are of hitting the jackpot.

If I had bing bong balls, I'd be on the phone with a urologist immediately!!!

Load six shooter with five bullets and leave one empty or leave five empty and load one. Which one would you play RR with?

According to you it doesn't matter

I don't think there is any evidence they use the first round picks on need. Seems they always go with who they have as best available. Likely what happened here.

McLeod says he was #2 overall for them, FWIW.

I don't get all the hate for Schwarber except for his name. Sounds like cheap beer.

He is a left handed power bat. Fans on the south side are calling in asking if the Whitesox are going to bring back A.Dunn for a year.

I'll take a left handed power bat over the 4th ranked best pitcher in the draft any day.

This Cub prospect thread has about a 2 to 1 Sox to Cubs fan comment ratio. Just an observation.

 it's actually like 2-1 in favor of Cub fans. Might wanna update your Who's Who here.

And fuck you for making me fact-check this on a Saturday night.

I'm just going by what people declare. I know JORR and dolphin are actually cubs fans, but I counted them as sox since that's what they claim.

Can't believe you actually counted.

it's kind of interesting that the numbers Josh Phegley put up at IU were way better. I'll grant this dude looks more the part in the box though.

the analogy only works if all bullets are the same sized...If I can have 100 pea shots or 1 mortar shell, I'll take the mortar.

Schwarber signed for $3.125M. That's about $1.5M below slot.
