In fact the charity part was clearly a built in shield for this terrible idea and that is kinda bullshit.
It was also intended as a marketing coup. That is why he had the kids in the background and everything.

Yup. If he wanted to donate he could simply cut a check anytime he wanted to, or arrange some high roller fundraiser. No need to use charity as a sort of potpourri to spray over an event that reeked of self glorification and aggrandizement.

The Washington Post reports that an NBA player claims James refers to himself as "King James" when he sends text messages.

For example, a player recently told me LeBron had contacted him about possibly joining forces in the offseason, though he was cryptic about where he actually might play. The text began: “Yo, this is King James.”

“I was like, ‘Give me a break. You’re going to call yourself that?’" the player said, on condition that his name not be used.

“Do you think Michael Jordan texts people by starting with, ‘Yo, this is His Airness.’ Come on, get over yourself.”

It's from from 2011. My guess is Kyle Korver.

All sorts of stories like this during 2010. The worst ones involved him dictating the Cavs practice schedule just so they didn't interfere with his organized party tour, for which he had his enterouge distribute flyers beforehand without regard for practice times and other team events.

Lebron also is reported to have given himself that nickname in high school, or at the very least was telling others to call him that, IN HIGH SCHOOL!

I think we can reasonably infer LeBron skipped college because he knew he would fail at winning a NCAA championship. He was afraid of Emeka Okafor and Ben Gordon. A certain number 23 had no issue capturing one.

I see the NBA is tipping off tonight's game at 9pm ET as an apology for the no AC in San Antonio. If LeBron doesn't dominate this game against a Spurs team playing near their bedtime then he further cements his loser legacy.

How cringe worthy is it when Wade and James attempt to make jokes?

Very, is the answer to that question

What jokes did they attempt?

Didn't they make jokes about Dirk that one year in the finals

The other day at the pre game presser Wade pretended to be a reporter and LeBron did a terrible Iverson impersonation

They both found it HILARIOUS

Are athletes usually funny? I mean overall.

It's always great when they are, but it's more of a novelty when it indeed is the case.

Could you imagine Tim Duncan doing SNL?

No, they arent funny usually.

But these two apparently think they're hilarious. And they are villains of the NBA so they will always be judged a little harsher

I mean combine Lebron's missteps with Wade telling people to call him "3" They're either incredibly tone deaf with fans or they WANT to be hated

They don't care. Lots of older NBA players were the same way. The difference is that with media access being what it is, them being "villains" isn't really confined to specific regions.

Isaiah was a villian in Chicago (his home town)
Mike was a villian in New York
I'm fairly certain Magic wasn't loved in Boston

I have to strongly disagree, especially on LeBron

LeBron TOTALLY cares. Everything he does is about his image, which is probably the root of most of the hate. He should have just let his play do the talk instead of trying to become a business.

Mike, Magic and Bird were hate/respected by rivals. Wade and James are just hated by everyone outside their team.

Isaiah was a villain though, agree there.

Maybe "don't care" was overstated. LeBron seems like a good guy who just makes odd decisions. I think he has (finally) accepted the fact that people who hate him are just going to hate him.

I just don't get it. Maybe my dislike for him will reappear when he's playing my team in a meaningful game. Other than that, he's the just an amazing player.

Don't take this the wrong way, but what is there not to get about people not liking Lebron?

I get if you have changed your opinion because he won titles but the same reasons still exist.

As I've pointed out, his continued attempts to pretend like he is going back to Cleveland have shown that he isn't really changed at all.

When I think of the players that I hated over the years, he doesn't even rank.

I think he's an idiot at times, sure. But I hated Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, Reggie Miller, John Starks and Bill Laimbeer. The off the court stuff doesn't interest me much. Do you think the media's constant "Is LeBron better than Jordan" narrative the main reason people hate him?

Why can't people have different feeling than you? Why does everything need your seal of approval? Just curious.
