The superstars were Castro and Rizzo. Now they're "pieces" and the superstars are Bryant and Baez. Why would I think we won't be having this conversation in two years with you saying Bryant and Baez are pieces and the superstars are Schwarber and Stinnett?

You can keep repeating this. Its never going to be true.

Are you really going to make me link the threads?

Is Trout a superstar? Why was he passed by so many teams?

Along with rewriting history on Rizzo who Hoyer and Epstein followed around like a couple of lovesick stalkers, now we're just getting silly.

No, you're getting silly.

There is a thread on here detailing Cubs fan reactions. You will not find anything close to a superstar prediction.

And as per usual you are confusing what you hear from Bernstein and applying it to Cub fans

You're being ridiculous. I don't have to go back any further than the Abreu/Rizzo thread. Many of you still think he's a superstar. Why not own it?

Not true. You're just lying now.

You're very biased on Cubs Sox topics. You paint everything to make the Sox and their fans look good and vice versa. That's why you talk about near championships, finishing second to the yankees and Avi Garcia being a superstar

You better not. You won't like what you find. Start with the Abreu and Rizzo thread.

No, Ill go back two years like you said.

And there is no one calling Rizzo a superstar in the Abreu thread. The closest thing is IMU saying he's a young Joey Votto. So even that has a caveat. But then again we had guys calling comparing Sale to Randy Johnson (style, not results) but that's cool because theyre sox fans

There's a big difference between comparing style and expected results though, isn't there?

If Rizzo wasn't an expected superstar wasn't it silly to give away what Hoyer gave for him on two occasions? And that being the case, how can anyone have any faith in the plan?

I'm not even talking about the future. TODAY, Rodon is a better prospect than Bryant

Well, the midseason prospect list will come out and we'll see what they think.

Then you can gloat if you're right and decry the lists in general when you're wrong

I don't gloat when I'm correct.

6 page thread on Anthony Rizzo. You will not find ONE legit superstar claim. In fact the bullshit claims that Cub fans love this guy by Sox fans are ultra present.

Right. Both are style comparisons. But you deem one of them as a normal comp and the other as OMG CUB FANS THINK THIS GUY IS MICKEY MANTLE

That has nothing to do with your incorrect statements about Cub fans. Maybe they gave up too much to get a guy who will just be decent. That doesnt change history. Cub fans didnt go crazy over Rizzo.

I thought Castro was going to be a star. I don't see how you couldn't after his first two years.

Agree. And yet, Sox fans were/are mocked for thinking Gordon Beckham could have become a star based on his rookie campaign.

The thing about the comparison, though, is that Sale IS arguably the best pitcher in baseball...certainly in the conversation

Here's a sampling of the over the top reactions of Cub fans when Keith Law said Castro would be a star

Obviously as Cub fans we are familiar with can't miss prospects missing with this team, so I understand the desire to keep expectations reasonable.

So, no one ever predicted superstardom for Rizzo and the only predictions about Castro came after two great seasons at the MLB level.

Glad we cleared that up.

The next logical evolution here is "If you didn't think Castro and Rizzo would be stars, then who in the Cubs system do you think will be a star?".

These predictions of "sustained success" have to come from some of these players in the system now.

Great question! We know they are going to win multiple championships. It's gonna happen! So who are the superstars? Cub fans are now denying Rizzo and Castro. Are the superstars Baez and Bryant? I would like a brave committment here. If you don't see any superstars in the system, why would you believe the plan is working?

So Big Fan called him an Elite PROSPECT and three other guys made jokes. Really?

Why not just admit you're wrong or that the Cub fans you're apparently talking about dont post here?

No Cub fan has predicted multiple championships

There is no denial of Rizzo and Castro as your theory on Cub fans loving them has been proven false.

Who said the plan is working?

Are you really saying no Cub fans here think "The Plan" is working? That seems kind of silly when Bucky Chris drops multiple iDevices to begin typing each time someone criticizes Theo.

Yeah well that one was so facetious you shouldnt even ask. He even ended it with "not too much to ask is it"

So as far as Rizzo, pretty much every Cub fan on this board expressed slight optimism after first listing the past failures and how you never know.

No one ever predicted him to be a Star. Not on this board.
