I'm going to gobble down some 'shrooms tonight !

We've had this conversation plenty of times. Links and articles have been posted. I've looked at many others.

It basically comes down to people saying "Alcohol is dangerous too" even though it isn't being argued otherwise. That is why I said I just wasn't interested in it. If you want to research it and then you figure out that alcohol is more dangerous than heroin and crystal meth I'll probably read it.

For me, I'm glad that I chose to drink alcohol rather than do crystal meth or do heroin. Maybe I made a poor choice though and things would be going better for me if I had chosen those other safer paths.

Would those of you who believe that alcohol is more dangerous than heroin & crack tell that to your children?

Good thing I don't drink booze, shoot heroin, or smoke meth.

One side believes in global warming. The other thinks it is a hoax, and scientists are lying.
One side encourages voting. The other goes out of its way to suppress minority voters.
One side believes in evolution. The other side wants creationism taught in science class.
One side works with the other when they are not in power. The other has stated their goal is to never work with the president.

Two and four are demonstrably false. The third is a phony argument that creates a contradiction between evolution and creationisn that does not even exist.

Baking them into chocolates is the way to go.

The votes, of course, can be attributed to legitimate philosophical objection to the idea of stimulus spending as well as sincere concern that the secretary of the Treasury should personally have a clean tax-paying record.

So, they didn't like the stimulus spending (no problem with it when Bush did it), and didn't like Geitner. That doesn't account for them standing in the way of EVERYTHING else. They are directly quoted admitting as much.


But what Draper's book makes clear is that blunt electoral-minded ambitions were the animating force.

Obviously, their objective was to get back in power in 2012. The way to do that, would be to have popular ideas that work, not obstruct everything they can. In 2012, they lost the presidential election by 6 million votes, and received 1 million less votes in the House races. I guess it didn't work, and they have doubled down on a bad idea.

It was, and still is true.

And I have been accused of towing the line.
