No. Chas is a pussy. He would run away if ever threatened in real life. If he did actually stick around for the fight, it's well established that Chas has sobriety issues. His balance would be off. If he stuck around and was sober... well, he's too disabled to work. So I'm gonna go on a limb and guess that fighting isn't gonna be his forte.

I disagree...

Brick, I know the difference between adderall and meth. Maybe you should contact neuropsychopharmacologist Carl Hart and tell him he's wrong.

"d-amphetamine and methamphetamine produce nearly identical physiological and behavioral effects," Hart et al. write. "They both increase blood pressure, pulse, euphoria, and desire to take the drug in a dose-dependent manner. Essentially, they are the same drug."

It's funny how incredulous you act when rpb said you were refusing to look at relevant data and studies on the subject of alcohol and other drugs. But since we won't ever see eye to eye, would you at least be willing to go as far as Chus and say it should be decriminalized and users should go to inpatient rehab and not jail? Would you say that's probably a more fitting sentence for using drugs and not harming other people in the process?

As far as your hypothetical about being 21, alcohol-meth-heroin in that order is probably your safest route. If you're getting fucked up on any of them 2 nights a week for 10 years you're probably gonna be in terrible shape and maybe dead. If you're using any of the three in controlled, moderate amounts, you'll probably be ok but obviously could definitely become addicted. It's certainly not a guarantee. I suggest not doing any of them twice a week for 10 straight years.

Been busy today and just catching up on this now but I think that answers most of the comments you had directed towards me the past few pages.

There is nothing immoral about wanting to feel "high." The fact that possessing a substance that makes you high leads to jail time is fucking ridiculous. Meth is very similar to adderall and heroin is very similar to morphine and other pain killers.

Now... who the hell wants to fight me?

Ok. I'm convinced. They are roughly the same. Ban adderall too.

No. I don't think all drugs should be decriminalized. We should do a better job of rehab in this country, but that isn't only possible with decriminalization.

I was talking about "recreational use" of each twice a week. However, I would suggest that 10 years of getting drunk on weekends isn't going to put you in terrible shape or dead. Otherwise, Wrigleyville would need a lot more coroners.

Why do you think someone should be put in jail for putting unapproved drugs in their body? What possible positive outcome could that have for the individual or our society? Inpatient rehab would still keep this dangerous lunatic off the streets. Why should we be punitive instead of rehabilitative to nonviolent "criminals"?

So you are talking about forced incarceration too? That is a pretty strange way to handle decriminalization. You aren't in trouble. You are just to be locked in this hospital for a period of months or years.

We need to improve our rehab in this country, both before they get arrested and after they do.

Right. Clearly I'm not in favor of forced rehab. I think they should all be legal. What I'm trying to do is understand from your point of view why you think jail is a more suitable outcome than rehab for someone who gets arrested with crack, meth, or heroin for the first time.

If you are sentenced to forced rehab or jail what is the big difference?

Have special rehab jails for non-violent offenders. That is fine.

Really? You attempt to mock me for the adderall/methamphetamine comparison and then you say jail(prison) is interchangeable with rehab?

If you are physically not allowed to leave then I don't see a major difference. We already have various levels of prisons in this country. It isn't all what we see on television.

Well, I've seen Dixon Fed, minimum security, and it's not all that different from confined rehab.

Conditions might be comparable. I'm pretty sure Dixon Fed has more violence though. There's an enormous difference between someone with a rehab stint and a 5 year(or whatever the minimum sentencing is) prison stay on their background checks.

Do you think certain drug users should go to jail instead of rehab?

I really don't know enough about this to form an opinion on the matter.

Damnit. Either do I and BRick, that doesn't deter us.

I seriously have no idea what to think on this one.
I'm lacking knowledge in the addiction/recovery world.
