During the interview she gave she definitely used her "tough" situation as part of the reason her and Bill could relate to the peasent classes.

I saw the interview and I didnt hear that. I heard a woman that was still trying to make everyone like her or as she calls it "bring everyone together".

You can't claim you are "Dead Broke" and buy two houses worth $4.5 million. You just can't do it. There is no spin for that.

You can say you have debt that you will have to pay, but you aren't broke. Broke literally means "having completely run out of money". If that is true, then where do you get the money to buy two houses worth $4.5 million? Banks don't exactly give loans to people who have $0.

She is rebranding herself. I think it was a success. She'll have the support of over 50% of the voting population.

You would be surprised. I'm sure that an ex president can find someone willing to loan him money based on his future earning potential.

Agree, no matter what she does.

And "The Bachlorette" was the most watched TV show in America last week, outside of the NBA finals.

Which is why you can't claim "DEAD BROKE" status. And why she was walking back that statement on GMA this morning.

Exactly! That is the point.

Who cares if she was technically cash poor? She still was not broke, or dead broke, or anything close to broke.

Donald Trump has been bankrupt three times I believe.

Want to make a wager that at one of these people pardoned by clinton is a client of a law firm that worked on Clintons legal issues?

While I don't think she should have said that, you don't think that caused them some great stress and hardship? Sure some of that they brought on themselves, and a lot others do not have the luxuries she has, but that doesn't mean she's had it super easy in all facets of her life.

The Clinton family, in moving out of the White House, bought two houses worth $4.5 million.

She certainly had it easy then.

I wouldn't but I can see how someone with her status could. It was "dead broke" for them. I mean they weren't in Truman's position but she probably didn't expect to have that kind of debt either. If FDR can make everyone believe he was just like them then Hillary shouldn't have a problem rebranding herself.

IMU vibe

Just because they were rich, doesn't mean they did not have stress or were struggling elsewhere. I think she phrased things very poorly, but I also think she has an underlying point.

If Bill Clinton hadn't been successful on his speaking tour those purchases would have been as foolish as the purchases many Americans make. You may know people who have beautiful homes but no furniture or cable because they bought more house than they could afford. Similar to athletes.

It's relative. They were "Elite Broke." Plenty of assets, connections and future revenue to bank on. Those examples she gave don't put the Clintons into any situation that's even close to being relatable to some in the middle-class that's broke or close to it.

I get what you're trying to say buy she chose her platform poorly.

She is the one looking for sympathy because she was "dead broke" while purchasing two houses worth $4.5 million. I'm judging her on that. I'm not judging her on any other struggles. This is her highlighting it.

She has no point that she was "dead broke".

If Bill Gates woke up tomorrow and had Nelly's money he may believe that he was "dead broke". It's subjective. Your broke is different from someone who is working poor.

He's still be wrong, and so would Nelly(probably, he may be broke, but country music probably pays well).

As a white male, I can think I'm discriminated against because of my race too. It doesn't mean I'm right.

It's your truth though. You'll likely have people that can relate to your struggle. What Hillary is doing is political rebranding. She is going the feminine route this time instead of trying to put on the masculine front. I believe it will be a successful strategy.

This is Hilary's you can see Russia from my house moment. Just dumb. She's lucky it happened in 2014 as opposed to 2016.

Except Palin never said she could see Russia from her house. Hillary did say her family was broke and had serious concerns about feeding themselves and putting Chelsea through school.

Yeah she didn't say that precisely, more like one can see Russia from Alaska, but I'm sure you get my point. I am tempted to think that Clinton's quotes are more insulting to one's intelligence.
