I'm certainly not championing Sarah Palin. If I had to pick between her and Hillary Clinton for president, I'm going with Clinton. But you can see the difference in the way the media handled the situations and quotes. It's like there is a cottage industry defending Clinton while Palin was subjected to ridicule at every turn. Not that she didn't deserve it at times. But you can see how it works in that something Tina Fey said in an SNL parody has now actually been attributed to Palin.

Yes, for sure. Her team will work to make this and future missteps go away quickly, as if things like this were never said. And the usual suspects in the media establishment will be complicit. Though that is probably true of any high profile public figure like her.

I think this is her exacerbating what I presume to be part of a strategy to make her more relatable to the wider public. This is certainly not the only strategy, but part of the playbook. Nothing new - it's just dumb. I'd rather she acknowledge that she didn't have any hardships instead of insulting everyone's intelligence by claiming she was dead broke after her husband had been president for eight years. Everyone knows they'd be looking forward to lucrative speaking engagements and book deals once the white house tenure was up on top of the six figure salary he earned for eight years.

Not a big deal in the larger picture I guess, but just dumb and offensive.

Yeah, for the most part anyone who is running for president is going to be pretty far removed from the average guy. To me, I find it offensive when they pretend to be the average guy. Some people actually like that though. I remember the outrage when Bush the First didn't know what a bar code scanner was or the price of a loaf of bread. I just thought, "why would he?"

If another President "fucks us over",at least this time it's a woman. I really like Hillary. She is a no-nonsense plain talker. She doesn't seem phony or "prepped" by her people. I can also say the same for the guy WHO WILL be our next President,Chris Christie.

Well, I understand that everyone has different viewpoints. But we have to agree upon what "truth" is or we can't really have a society. I once read a book about perception and the subjectivity of the way events may be perceived that used bats as an example. Bats have a completely different view of the world than humans or other species, thus their "truth" is necessarily different.

In this case, Nas knows the truth and he understands that Hillary Clinton claiming to be "dead broke" is moronic. He's just having fun on a message board. Wouldn't you agree?

Nas is set to support another champion of the status quo; will claim that she should be given a chance to demonstrate that she believes in the progressive values she embraces during her campaign, even though she has a long track record of undermining those values; will dramatically reverse his endorsement of her 10-14 months into her presidency--when it becomes clear that she is as reactionary as many members of the Republican party; and will attempt to save face by declaring that "there was never any evidence" to support the belief that Clinton would govern differently than she campaigned. One reason might be the advertising industry and media who have been shoving "it's your world, we all just live in it" down people's throats during their formative years.
