Do you ever spend any time downtown, or are all your impressions gleaned from Chicago Social?

When I was like 7 or 8 my dad was driving me home and we stopped to return movies at Village Video in Beverly. I stayed in the car and my dad just ran up and dropped them off. As I sat in the car I hear a loud "You wanna piece of me??!!" I look across the street and two guys are beating the fuck out of another. I mean at one point the guy started to slither down the car that was holding him up and one of the dudes lifted him up so they could keep pummeling him. My dad came out, saw what happened and got in the car. He pulled a turn right into the parking lot they were in a very aggresive manner and sped up right to them. He got out and said "Is that guy ok, does he need help?" The dudes literally said "Oh yeah our friend fell."

They stopped, my dad gave them a rag from the car to help with the blood and while this was going on a guy in the funeral home next to the video store had called police. Once cops came we were outta there.

That always stuck with me. It was on out of character move for my dad. Not that he wouldnt get physical if it came to that, but he was by far the more...careful of my two parents. He spent my whole life telling me NOT to get in other people's shit because people are crazy and anyone can have a weapon you dont know about.

I guess in that case humanity got the best of him. He couldnt NOT help in some way. Im sure he thought twice about doing it with me in the car later, but in that situation you dont have much time to ponder.

I dont know what I would do. I know I couldnt pretend to not see it. I think Id probably get involved and that's dangerous but whatever, I dont know how anyone can watch someone get bloodied and beaten and not do something

Police aren't going to rush to the scene, they'll be there to clean it up.

Ehhh, I'd let him get beat up until he was passed out. Then try and break it up, like cage fighting.

we have threads upon threads here of people complaining of others not giving common courtesies and such in many facets of life
and now you expect someone to intervene in a street fight ?
no one gives a shit

You wouldn't even make it out of Round 1 of The Battle of the Tough Guys.

Four toughest people on the CSFMB:
chas(obvious)
Furious Styles(he's a biker, so I assume he is basically Clay Morrow)
pittmike(old man strength)
Spaulding(token "women are tough because they can have babies" inclusion)

90 year old George Bush would have leg-whipped the guy.

I'm telling you - a hot latte on the back would stun him fast enough for the victim to get away. I'm fast, so I could outrun him.

Would help out ,call cops then jump in. I have done it before. After bar tending a few years your inertia wears off so it is no big deal to break up a fight.

This is one great example of why conceal carry is a wonderful thing. Some psycho attacks you or your family, you can put him down like a rabid dog.

Or his lunatic girlfriend can see you go for your gun and shoot you in the back.
