The album is short but solid. I had their previous album Lion's Roar on a Top 5 list from a few years back,
2012 I think, it was excellent.

Teen Dream and Bloom are where it's at....

Yeah, those two are excellent. I have only listened to Devotion twice, so I'm still on the fence about it.

Stylistically it's not really any different from those 2 but I just find the songs are a bit weaker overall and the tempo is almost too mellow at times....like their sound hadn't fully matured yet. I don't dislike it, it's just when I feel like listening to Beach House that's not the one I tend to grab

Another Texas country guy. Texas country is where it's at if you need a modern country sound. The burrito crap being barfed out of Nashville is awful.

Chock full of some solid little jams.

Oh hey I should check this thread more often.

Yeah, I liked that album a lot. The album before it, which was their first with a new lineup that lost their multi-instrumentalist, left me wanting more. Fortunately, they found it for this one. Even better is the next one, The Something Rain, which captured a lot of the old magic and successfully incorporated the electronic elements that they had usually shunned (except for a select few B-sides over twentysome years.)

Tindersticks is one of my favorite bands of all time so hey if anyone has any questions just ask!

I heard the lead single off this album and thought it was Antony Hegarty.

Not really what I usually listen to but figured I would give it a spin. It wasn't bad.

Will do, CH. I've only listened to The Hungry Saw and this one. I'm going back now and starting in with them chronologically.

The Hungry Saw is the weak one without Dickon Hinchliffe. You'll love the first two. "City Sickness" and "My Sister" are masterpieces.

Other songs you need to make sure you get around to:

People Keep Comin' Around
(You Take) This Heart of Mine
Don't Ever Get Tired
Dying Slowly
Waiting for the Moon
Trying to Find a Home
4.48 Psychosis
Until the Morning Comes
Running Wild
Rented Rooms
If She's Torn
Say Goodbye to the City
For Those...
Before You Close Your Eyes

Tindersticks isn't perfect: they self-plagiarize, get stuck in ruts from time to time (Curtains is the sound of a band fresh out of ideas), and sometimes embark on long songs that go nowhere but up their own asses. But man, when they're on, there's hardly anyone better.
