Fight back to tie it only to let walks bite them in the ass in the end.

Why was Coop so pissed off about that play at the plate?

Drunk.

Why else would he have left Webb in after the 1st walk or pulled Downs for Belisario.

That was the John Danks we have all come to know over the last few seasons. Great job yesterday, asshole.

Yeah, but that includes Sierra playing some games in center and Viciedo playing a lot of games in right. There are lots of rightfielders better than Viciedo, probably most of them, but when you move him to left, he's better than most. I keep asking for a list of better leftfielders. I don't get one because it's very short. And Sierra is nothing special in center. I haven't seen him throw to the wrong base too much, but that happens when you have a guy with a big outfield arm. He always thinks he has a shot to nail the lead man. Clemente did it all the time and people think he was the greatest. Anyway, Hawk was speaking specifically about an outfield of Viciedo in left, Eaton in center, and Sierra in right.

Viciedo is 10th out of 16 qualifying LF in Range Factor

He is 16th out of 16 in fielding percentage (only counting his games as a LF)

Small sample. Who are the guys you think are better in left? I'm interested in seeing your list. Obviously, Alex Gordon would be one of them, and Choo would be on there. But who else? Cespedes? I don't think so. It was funny seeing him get cheered for that great throw when it only occurred because he kicked the ball.

Are you nuts? That's exactly what you're praising Viciedo for! At least the Cespedes has some wheels unlike Viciedo to snag some balls.

I dont watch every team enough to break it down. The stats say most LF are better. De Aza has a better fielding pct and RF. I dont know. I know calling them the best is silly. Im pretty sure the best OF will have Elite guys in CF and RF. Are Eaton and Sierra elite?

They're both ordinary fielders, which is why they play (or should play) left. With few exceptions, ordinary fielders are what you find in left. They've both played other outfield positions where their defense is an issue. In left, it isn't.

Again, not enough history, but I suspect Eaton may be elite. With Sierra, it's tough to call a guy elite when he isn't an everyday player. He has the tools to be elite, but his bat will probably keeping from every being an elite defender, because he just won't play enough. Most guys need to play everyday to get the routes down and understand the position and the parks.

Anyway, like I said, I don't agree with Hawk's analysis of their defensive prowess, but I don't necessarily see it as an opinion to be ridiculed. If you want to ridicule Hawk, there are many other idiotic things to talk about.

There are a lot bigger problems with this team than the outfield defense. It needs to be improved for sure, but I would improve the bullpen, the 4th & 5th starters, the BASERUNNING which is fucking horrible, and infield defense first.

Agreed.

Sox should have had 7 or 8 runs yesterday.

As painful as this losing streak has been, its pretty much just been a series of unlucky one run games.

I still think they end up +/- 2 games from .500 for the year

The score should be 8-2 in favor of our guys
Instead, we have a 2-1 game

It would be great if De Aza plays himself in to a position of being sought in a trade.

It is very possible that that they could be even slightly beter than +2 if it does they are close to the wild card but just a little short... you go the other way and they sldie even a bit more than -2 they are out of .... are the Sox buyers or sellers?

What do they need to get there if they are in it ?

Who goes if they are out?

He was being shopped in spring and I am sure Keyser would lead the going away parade.... but what do they get?

Bruce Levine thinks Alexi is the top trade chip...

So basically, you think "it is very possible" that the Sox could win anywhere from 75-90 games.

This is the kind of hard hitting baseball analysis we need around here!

I have seen far too many losses against last place in their division teams to consider them anything but sellers.

I have said all along, the only thing they can afford to trade as buyers is financial flexibility. They can take on a big contract of a still good but underperforming contract that extends out a couple of years in exchange for nothing but the salary relief, kind of like the Dodgers did a couple of years ago. It would be nice to see them pick up a #4 level starter this way. A leftfielder would also work.

My guess would be Viciedo to Seattle will be their first move. What you get for him I have no idea.

They'll get something for him.

Guys I'd like to see gone:

DeAza
Beckham
Ramirez
Viciedo
Danks (both)
Dunn
The Bullpen
