Very very interesting how I'm hearing familiar phrases about this wreck. Once 23-year-old HoFer Avisail comes back next year to play his 1st full season of major league ball everything will be OK. The walks will cease, the ERA will plummet, baserunning mistakes will be eliminated and fielding will be top notch.

I thought Herm Shneider was the best there ever was?
I'm glad you care so much.

Ag-Bob, he's one lawer who doesn't need Tom Skilling to tell him which way the wind blows.

"Stony the wind just killed that one. Any other park and that one would have been long gone!"

I'm just surprised Sox fans, the educated baseball fan in Chicago, approve of a GM who constructed the 3rd worst team in MLB last year and now the 3rd worst in the AL this year.

Why couldn't Hahn pick up 1 or 2 vets like Arroyo, Kazmir, or Nolasco just to name a few? A guy like Nelson Cruz couldn't have helped the line up?

I'm just curious why Michigan Man Hahn Esq is getting a pass from the media. They are being lulled to sleep by his open friendly nature. When will the coddling end?

Rick Hahn is not a scary black man, so he's got a lifetime pass.

He is also not Saint Theo. It takes a special kind of baseball man to lose 300 games in 3 seasons.

when the hell did being a lawyer become the pathway to being a GM? should I hire an ex-baseball player to handle the estate planning?

If the season continues to go downhill like this then you'll certainly hear a lot of questioning of him. If they finish around .500 he probably gets a pass with pressure on him for next year to do a lot better than that.

I can promise you in year 3 of his regime that making the playoffs will be the expectation and anything less will not be considered acceptable.

The lineup has been fine.

One more veteran pitcher was needed. That was obvious to me before the season started. They didn't need to go big with someone like Kazmir. Someone like Bartolo Colon would have been fine. Paulino was a prayer. You MUST back those guys up.

The Sox are poised for great things. Hahn had a brilliant off season and continued it into the draft.

Sale, Quintana, Danks and Rodon is an enviable start to a 2014 rotation.

Eaton, Gillaspie, Garcia, Abreu, and Ramirez are a similarly nice group of everyday players.

The arrow is pointing WAY up!

good dolphin with probably the smartest baseball post of the year. This thread has really worked out poorly for Kirkwood.

So was Johnson and Danks. Hahn hoped 3/5 of his rotation would coincidentally have career years.

Sale, Quintana, Danks and Rodon is an enviable start to a 2014 rotation.

Simply due to presence of Sale. Quintana has regressed, Danks always finds a way to lose and Rodon isn't signed. Even if he signs there are no guarantees he will excel. Ask Houston about Mark Appel or Colorado about Eddie Butler.

The inclusion of Garcia is odd. He's never played a full major league season. He's hardly a sure thing.

Interesting to see good dolphin has taken the path of a 65 year old Iowan grandma. I don't think I've read anything more delusional.

Hahn has taken a roster built by Kenny that was 3 games short of winning the AL Central and ruined all of Kenny's hard work. The dike broke through last year when Hahn sat pat hoping for another magic carpet ride. He patched the dike this offseason as a result of his lazy effort. But now holes are sprouting the Dutch boy only has so many fingers to keep his shoddy repair job from breaking. Really only a matter a time before the dike bursts again.

Is what? What exactly is he building on the Southside? Why is he comfortable with a manager that doesn't know how to manage? Does Don Cooper have more pull than Hahn? Why is he considered safe when the Sox staff leads the MLB in walks and is 27th in ERA and summer just started. How could he think depending on John Danks, Andre Rienzo, Erik Johnson, or Scott Carroll would be a good idea? The bullpen? Woof.

Does his vision totally disregard baseball IQ, basic fielding and baserunning competency? When does the Michigan Man start getting asked questions? Where's the accountability? The South Side is the smart baseball fan. How could they be so stupid to buy Hahn's bullshit?
Hahn hasn't done a very good job. There are still major flaws and the rebuild is behind schedule. Robin needs to be fired in the offseason.

So far, besides the Abreu decision, I'm not impressed.

I like the acquisitions of Avasil, Eaton, and Davidson. Abreu was a great move. It's way too early as this team is in transition. I believe the Rios move was salary related more than anything. I agree that Ventura probably needs to go. You can't keep losing to supposedly weaker division rivals.

I am a huge Cubs fan, but I follow the While Sox with great interest. I try to be objective in my assessment of their team.

Need to see results though.

I know the Avisail needs to be judged next year for obvious reasons.

The Davidson deal turned out horribly. I thought it was iffy at the time but gave him the benefit of the doubt. Whoever did the scouting on him should get fast balls from the pitching machine aimed at his nuts.

MLB.com has Davidson as their top prospect, but his numbers have been bad this year. You miss Addison Reed? It may turn out to be a busted prospect, but you didn't give up that much.

Addison Reed was good and cheap. Now he's gone and we got zero back. Davidson is done. broken. finished.

A Cubs fan as yourself should be asking the tough questions of his own GM.

Pretty sad when you don't have the spine to question your own team so you take potshots across town at the other team.
