Name a deep draft then if the one with Lebron wasn't.

That draft was much better than this one.

It's early obviously on this one. 84, 96, 08 were all deeper than Lebrons

Well Rick it's not always about comparing the 11th pick to each 11th pick in other drafts, but rather who was available at 11 in this draft that they also could have taken, or just keeping 16 and 19.

84: Kevin Willis

So, Kevin Willis may be the first person that would even slightly meet the expectations people seem to have for the 11th pick.

However, I'd say that the 2003 all stars would pretty much destroy the 2008 all stars.

The problem is people keep on pointing out the flaws with McDermott.

If Gary Harris becomes an all star then of course they messed up but he has just as many flaws as McDermott.

What player did the Bulls miss out on? Did they reach for McDermott?

No way for me to know, just commenting on bricks thinking. I agree with his comment on Harris.

Just because you keep saying that doesn't make it true.

I mean, Jesus H. Christ almighty .... arguably the best NCAA scorer in nearly twenty years and he won't ever be able to make his own shot in an NBA game.

True ... I did forget that the NCAA still only lets whites play basketball .... I wonder how he'll react to seeing big. black. bodies.

The word depth appears to be a foreign concept. Michael Sweetney top ten 03 Jarvis Hayes top ten 03. Darko two 03 Reece Gaines top twenty. The top five of that draft obscures the rest of it. 08 was a much deeper draft. It already has more allstars than 03. 84 and 96 also has more all stars and was a far deeper draft just look at the list from those years. Every draft has its share of busts and thus your extrapolations are but a neat little trick. If you look at the first round lists from those years it is no comparison.

It has nothing to do with race. If you look at the scouting report it states that he is a weak ball handler which for the basketball retarded i will explain it probably means that he can't create his own shot.

I can't comment on the pick specifically, though sb sports did suggest something similiar in a pre draft report, but there are plenty of examples of high scoring college athletes being downgraded to one dimensional specialists in the nba because they couldn't replicate the same level of success against better competition. Again I don't know what happens here but the worst-case suggestion I think is worthy of consideration even while we can refrain from asserting its likelihood or lack thereof.

Its funny how sports inevitably devolves into a sociological experiment. Many of the people that are commenting about Doug McDermott probably haven't seen him play and point to his point production as a means of hiding their ignorance.

03 all stars: 8 total(7 in the first round, 5 in the top 10)
08 all stars: 5 total(5 in the first round, 4 in the top 10)

So, 03 has more all stars, and more all stars deeper in the draft.

With players at their peak, the 03 draft destroys the 08 draft.

Lebron
Anthony
Bosh
Wade
Kaman
vs.
Rose
Westbrook
Love
Lopez
Hibbert(or whatever non-all star you want)

There is no case that the 08 draft was significantly better, and when you start to factor in what has happened with Rose, and how Beasley has been a bust, and OJ Mayo is already on his third team it looks pretty bad.

But hey, I guess the 03 draft, with 4 likely hall of famers, wasn't a deep draft.

The guy was ranked as a top 15 to top 10 player on all the draft lists. Your refusal to admit that the guy can play basketball is just hiding your ignorance.

Statistically he is on that pace. I don't know why it would be surprising.

As an ode to the race baiting crowd I give you Gary Neal James Jones and Jared Dudley who are they? Black players with similar skill sets as McDermott. It's not about whether he can play or not it's about whether you draft a guy that does what he does that high. McDermott is already talking about how good of a team defender he is which means he will be looking for someone to help whenever he gets beat by whomever he is supposed to check. That's code for I can't guard and thus I will always look for someone to help me out

Rick is right. Wade James and Anthony are in. The question should have been asked of Bosh. He might make it, surprisingly.

Bosh actually has a better resume than Anthony right now.

Bosh is surprisingly pretty much a lock unless he retires because he can't stand being apart from Lebron.

He's gone from ball stopping loser to hall of famer in a span of what 2 months that is quite an evolution that's all

I don't know anyone who believes Bosh is better than Melo. He just attached himself to the right players.

He is not going to judged as a success in the NBA by his defense. We can agree on that.

6'8" who can hit from as far back as you want to put him is going to have an important role on the highest quality of NBA teams.
