Yeah but is he going after Simmons for the on and off Jerry R criticism or is he genuinely annoyed with Simmons.

He seems to think Simmons is generally an unprofessional bitch on NBA coverage, but then again, making fun of him for his "can I talk now?" originated with -- where else? -- Deadspin. I'm sure Dan also gets defensive about Jerry Reinsdorf. The confusing thing is that Dan likes Grantland. Does he not know that's a Bill Simmons thing?

I agree, it's bizarre how he pretends that Simmons just dropped out of the sky - the guy has been cramming pop culture observations into sports as long as Dan has been partnered with Terry as "the voice of the Chicago sports fan". He sucked back then, and sucks worse now...not sure why this is breaking news to Dan.

I don't really care why they bust on Simmons, to be honest, I just like that they do - I have an irrational hatred of that guy, and his continued acceptance as a valued sports mind just baffles me.

Mr. Destructo summed up Bill Simmons better than anyone with "Face for radio, voice for print, thoughts for semaphore."

At least Bill Simmons will speak TRUTH. TO. POWER. How can Dan hate him? Simmons is a hell of a lot closer to being a muckraker than Bernstein could ever dream.

Bill Simmons used to be great but he's become Chris Berman 2.0. He took on so many responsibilities that he couldn't handle that he isn't even good at what he used to be good at.

The fact that ESPN bases so much of it's programming around a blogger is one of the strangest things I've ever seen. Do you think if ESPN fired Bill Simmons tomorrow that any other channel would be interested in him having an on air role?

Yes, he's such an inexplicably puddish pud. Why would you pretend that you're LITERALLY just hearing about Bill Simmons (and what he does)?

Bernstein is the Taylor Swift of media bromances.
He once loved Rovell alsmost as much as Matt Bowen and Ethan Skolnick combined and then dropped him once he went back to ESPN.
He should just stick to his goal of banging Jen Lada.

Is Bill Simmons a senior columnist?

His follower count on Twitter indicates "no" - but holy crap do I not understand anyone who enjoys his pop culture-infused smarm.

Only, I repeat ONLY, good thing he ever does is riff on movies with Adam Carolla.

Yeah, pretty much. He was cool when he was the only person doing what he was doing, but even by ten years ago, he was firmly in a rut of repetition and unwitting self-parody.

Of course he added that's that's ok, because there are "real smart" people there writing "real smart" things.

For the record, I don't mind Simmons, but Grote's description today that he talks like a stuck up girl was spot on!

I do feel his columns were better before he started Grantland. However, I like a lot of his podcast and still am somewhat entertained by his columns.

It's ok, we all like at least two dumb things (B&B being the first thing, you've clearly chosen an east cost, silver spoon dork as your second).

No. I like him too. I read his columns and listen to his sports podcasts. Love guessing the lines every Monday with cousin sal. He's a goofy dope. What B&B used to be

I like Simmons guess the NFL lines podcast with Cousin Sal. Sal's fake voicemails from Simmons mock Simmons mercilessly:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwUBw3RnrRQ

Men in Blazers--entertaining podcast about "footy" on the Grantland network that's been particularly good during the World Cup.

There's no excuse in finding Cousin Sal funny or entertaining. He's a pudwhack of a human being. He and Simmons together is like teaming up Jim Rome and Skip Bayless for a Vaudeville show.

Ok Harry. I don't need my sports talk insightful 24/7. Two goofs talking like their at the bar is fine for myself. Thanks for looking out for me.

Why don't the Bulls just amnesty Rose? That would free up a ton of cap room.

Your texts are already blocked. I guess you'd have to call.

Are you sure? I still receive the "Thanks! We're reading your text..." auto reply when I text.

It's funny that he basically talks about how irrelevant sports are and then gets angry when people don't understand the minutiae of the amnesty provision in a collective bargaining agreement.
