Its June 29th. Not even July yet. What possible excitement do you get blowing off shit at 10:00 five days before the 4th? I love fireworks, but I just don't get the excitement of wasting your money a week early.

Are you 77 years old, or a dog?

My kid wakes up and comes downstairs. I don't want her to know that I post here, so I have to shut down the browser. Its just really inconvenient.

It's not like going sledding in July. Blowing shit up isn't dependent on a date to be enjoyable. Move to Sun City or something if you desire the neighborhood to be asleep (or dead) by 7.30.

Had the 4 AM BOOM today.....never understood that 'firework"

Just the big bang that sounds like a house exploded. Just guessing that one might have serious things go bad if not done right.

Ya know the one that shakes the hood and has all the car alarms go off.

Those things are like $50 each - at least, with many or the largest ones well over $100 per.

I looked into buying professional-grade fireworks last year as part of a benefit we were putting together for a local cause, and I was taken aback by how expensive the shells are.

Even the smallest municipal show must cost over $20K by my estimation.

How is the fireworks show not the first cut, when municipalities are having budget issues?

Have ths share my ultimate ripoff story.

Going to Greenlake one year for the 4th. friend has an amzing place up there, with a bluff on the lakeshore. perfect for sending huge fireworks over the lake.

On the way up we buy about $500+ in Class C fireworks. Some big stuff.

the owner says , 'I will out the Class c stuff in the box, with the lid, so it's safe and doesnt move around"

Later that night we make the move for the Class C stuff and none of it is there! just some newspapers filling up the box.

About as pissed off as I could be, I call the guy and he is bust being July4th, cant take the call. call 4 more times. Nope.

July 5th on the way back, we go way out of our way to stop there. I want a refund and $200 worth of my fireworks.

Guy tells me to get the Fuck out or he is calling the cops.

I accept the police invite, knowing the last thing this guy wants is police activity at his fireworks stand.

he reaches into the Register and gives me back refund in cash plus $100 and says get the fuck out.

Still reported the guy and I think he is gone.

But nothing could make up for the expected show that became some bottle rockets and firecrackers!

'Wisconsin, it's practically right over the border!"

Don't know about all of them, but ours is paid thru private donors.

I agree, Hoffy.

We should also castrate people who exchange Christmas gifts before December 24th.

You back in the city, Roz? Fireworks have pretty much been going off since Memorial Day in my hood.
