Nationally Bernstein is nobody right? Yeah, probably not a feud unless Bernstein increases his profile, but that would involve retracting and condemning so many positions of his over the years that he's probably best suited to staying put, practically speaking.

I assume dangerous as in anti-Semitic?

I did hear Terry jump in to say that JR can't be cheap because after all, he paid MJ $32 million his last two years!

And if I'm not mistaken, I heard Danny Boy prep the masses for when JR declines to amnesty Boozer, saying something like "there would still be value in an expiring contract next year..."

The whoke kabuki show is fucking sad.

Went after him hard there.

They didn't even clear space with this trade (regardless of what they do with Randolph in the future). Even if Randolph wasn't involved, the cap savings on moving 2 draft picks into 1 was minimal.

Was this his only reply?

If this were a caller, he'd be screaming.

I guess Skolnick gets a pass for doing such a great job covering Miami. I recall his recent great predictions like Wade having a great NBA Finals, for example.

My feelings about a Simmons-Bernstein feud are the exact opposite of that feeling.

Is it a feud if Simmons doesn't know/care/respond?

The wrong feud is being focused on here, nobody cares about Bernstein locally except for this board, much less nationally.

I used to love Simmon's NBA articles, but watching last night, I felt like Rose wants to choke him and has little respect for him. Simmons just makes dumb jokes, and he's not really that funny. Everything seemed tense to me because of the Rose/Simmons dynamic.

Yeah, Jalen loves Bill. I just think Bill is awkward on TV.

You couldn't be more wrong here. Rose/Simmons are pretty much best friends.

I'm getting a chuckle out of the Simmons-Bernstein feud. If you asked BS about Bernstein's comments he would probably respond, "Who the fuck is Dan Bernstein?"

Dan Bernstein is a completely unknown to anyone outside the Chicago metro area.

Knock Bill Simmons for being annoying and cocky but he started off as a blogger and his career has skyrocketed. Danny Boy has coasted for more than a decade. He's doing the same lame crap year after year. His career has plateaued and going nowhere.

Sorry for speaking the truth about our favorite "Senior Columnist".

Bernstein actually dismissed the notion that anti-semitism was the basis of the Reinsdorf is cheap beliefs. In part because so many other owners would fall under the same umbrella but don't receive similar criticism.

That's because- unlike Jerry- they aren't cheap.

The other thing that makes this weird is that conversely, Dan is alleging not to know who Bill Simmons even is, having to be told that Simmons is the editor of a website he visits often and reads to us from on occasion. I find it very hard to believe that any sports pundit who has been active through the 21st century could be unfamiliar with the guy who, for better or worse, blew the lid off sportswriting and introduced new levels of stream-of-consciousness, fan interaction, pop culture, and sheer word count. Dan said something like "Is that his bit? to be a homer on TV?!?" Well, no shit that's his bit, and it always has been, so why's he gonna stop now? I mean, I can't stand his writing anymore either, but I get the whole thing, and for Dan and Deadspin to groan over his shameless homer act while at the same time groaning over the old white men who still live by "tut-tut, there's to be no cheering in the press box" is contradictory and stupid. And speaking of Deadspin, if I didn't know better, I would suspect that Dan doesn't really give a fuck about Bill Simmons -- or might actually like Bill Simmons if he gave him a chance, since fawning over Malcolm Gladwell and going on about random shit no one cares about sounds like your average Boers & Bernstein show, too -- and is just complaining about him because Tim Marchman or whoever else there does.

I don't know the context in which Dan claimed not to know him, but Simmons is also an NBA analyst on ABC and was present throughout the entire playoffs. How the hell could he claim not to know him?

Dan's whole "who is this guy?" reeks of insecurity.

Yeah, I think the general reaction to his, um, meteoric rise was less "who is this Bill Simmons person?" and more "are they seriously giving a TV job to Bill Simmons?"

I liked him. I dont hate him, but have no need for his current thoughts. His original page 2 stuff was good. But after reading his thoughts on...everything, his stuff is way too predictable

Bernstein and Simmons are essentially the same guy. One uses smarmy pseudo-intellectualism, one uses smarmy faux-populism. Both are purveyors of casual racism and misogyny, both think that sports are a laboratory for neoliberalism, and both spend most of their time making turgid, self-aggrandizing pronouncements to mask the fact that they don't actually know jack shit about sports.

Does this tu quoque work here anymore? More and more posters say it's better to just read the board and pick up the general vibe of the show than it is to listen to it and suffer the opportunity cost of listening to something else.

Reading here to get a "vibe" of the show is probably not a good sampling of opinions. These threads are just a bunch of people with some sort of axe to grind, railing against Dan & Terry every day
