That isn't really the point though. It's how it comes off from two privileged white guys. Nobody needs to feel sorry for Derrick Rose the individual. And sure, he's probably a dumbass. The point is, it's an ugly stereotype and they come off (at least to me, and caller Ty apparently heard it the same way) as painting blacks as dummies. But it goes deeper and weirder than even that--both B & B are too smart to ever call a black guy "boy," but they just can't help themselves in making the peculiar way they've racialized their show a constant theme. For example, I've been listening since day 1 (hate listening since Goff left, as I thought he would call this bullshit out at times) and I think both TB and berns give a much wider berth to crazy black guy callers and would never go off on them like they would to a caller they thought was white: it's churlish and paternalistic and just icky...
