Yeah, the Astros front office is hitting it out of the park last few seasons. They cut the guy who went to Atlanta to become the NL batting champ last season.

This season, they did this:

JD Martinez has put up these numbers so far this season, since being cut by the geniuses running the Astros:

Facts don't matter, Hussra. The Astros hired Very. Smart. People. That's all that matters.

Sounds like the Goffer is back in the studio. That was his laugh in the background.

Y'know, I really liked Drinky and Spiegs.

I actually enjoyed both.

Would have no problem with either. I think they were both solid and would probably improve with more time together.

If Mac leaves for good that means Goff will have one less enemy and one less person that would have him fired.

I don't think that is what he is saying.

He is saying for soccer to have really arrived in our country fans would not be happy with the result of going 1-2-1 in a world tournament. If/when it has arrived fans will expect more and be upset by such a performance.

I think he is right. Germany or Brazil would not be happy by such a performance. But America is.

Disgusted that the GUY who clearly is checked out and doesn't bust his ass by any means, isn't dependable and doesn't even pay attention to certain aspects of sports can have that kind of power...I know experience, tenure, yada yada...but bully to him to keep a hard working guy down for a few jokes...

Dan has to be in the midst of hanging banners featuring Goff's likeness around the studio and engaging in rampant hand holding/ear kissing to get him to join the team. When talent like that is out there you have to clear the decks to try to land him.

Dan: "Jason, you know that regardless of the bad weather and the higher tax rates, this is your best chance to win, right? :D [throws down a copy of the ratings] These are all that matter- Ratings. Championships."

Jason: "Well my girl really loves Atlanta... and from the looks of things you haven't won a ring in a while."

Dan: "That's just because of bad White Sox baseball. I think I can speak for Mitch in saying that we would be willing to go into the luxury tax because we know we can win a title with you 8) .

I tire or reading people saying, "I love Drinky along w/ Spiegs, it's a great match!" Hell, all the Drinky comments about what shift he would be amazzzzing at are tiresome. If the guy was any good (which he is not) he would be a star. Stick to filtering Bernstein callers and getting him coffee.

For fuck's sake the Score needs to go out of house for some talent!

I don't think anyone has used the word "love" in relation to the pairing. For myself it's just that they just sound solid, nothing mind blowing and definitely better than old vlowhards like Rozner and Rosenbloom.

Who else ya got? What outside talent?

Agreed. Most of these guys, like Abattacola, are long-time producers. They are not sports experts because they have a microphone or because they enjoy sports. I don't really care about most, or any, of their opinions (or made up sources, same apply to Boers and Bernstein with their make believe sources).

I'm generally sick of extreme negativity (construcitve criticism is fine, just not constant doom and gloom), and Rosenbloom tops the cake there. I don't have a list of "outside talent", but am agaiint producers inheriting roles because nobody else is available.

I get this sense that miserable Rosenbloom is the same off-air as he is on-air. The guy would find a way to bitch about winning the Powerball.

I loved Bernstein when he first started on the station. Whenever he got a shift, he was prepared and did a great job. It didn't sound like the crap we have now where there is a substitute teacher asking the class, 'okay where did you guys last leave off?'

When Bernstein first started off everyone could tell he was smart and never had to tell anyone. Nowadays, he goes out of his way to act like he is some Rhodes Scholar and we are mere little peons in his merry land. He'll argue with callers by lowering the caller's volume while screaming over them (nice trick Danny), and if the caller insists on trying to be heard Bernstein will cut them off w/ a "He's a moron!"

Where is the outside talent? Well since the Score is cheap and won't hire any out of towner or anyone of name, you have to grow your own. Enough of these Columbia College kids. I don't care that you took a class on how to be a radio host. Anyone that comes from a school that is plugged by a guy name "Drinky" does not get hired at my radio station.

If the Score wants to claim to be number one, act like it. Go after smart people. Recent college grads from smart schools. It seems that the qualifications to work at a radio station in CHicago is you grew up in the area and went to SIU or U of I. Find someone at a smart school who has a paper trail. Maybe he wrote for his school paper and you can sense he has an opinion or two. Hopefully he has done radio and you can hear if he has the radio voice.

Go after smart, hungry kids who know a few things and can entertain me. This insistence that stations dont hire an out-of-towner because they don't know Chicago is stupid. I can give two fucks where a host grew up and if remembers where he was when MJ hit the shot against Russell.

My two qualifications for a good host are:
1) Does he presently know what is going on in sports today
2) Does he entertain me.

Well, you just described Adam Hoge and Connor McKnight, so you must be tickled pink with the Game as of late. That's fine and whatever, but not in a post where you're bitching about Bernstein, because that's just what you'd get.

How about instead of setting your sights on one narrow type of person (well-educated middle-class white twentysomethings), you try to incorporate a range of voices for Chicago sports fans? It should be a variety show: if you don't like one act, you'll like another.
