Looks like you may need to bring some child appropriate games and a copy of the "Childs Version Of The Communist Manifesto".

Hopefully it pushes far offshore and you only have to worry about wave heights.

being that my 4th of July plans will include liquor of some sort, i just stopped over at the Oak Lawn Kenwood to pick up a few things...anyone that has ever been there knows that parking lot is a clusterfuck, so as i pulled in there was space along the curb by the street, so i parked there

there's a guy in the lot driving one of those long white work vans. he's actually in the lot but in the space on an angle, and appears to be coming toward me like he's going to actually drive off the curb. naturally i pause and wait to react to whatever he's going to do....he seems to correct himself, backs up and parks in the space ok

so finally i stop the car and get out...and the security guard is walking over to the guys car with another younger guy, saying he's wasted. i'm then inside checking out and the security guard is right next to me on the phone with the cops telling them this guy crossed over Cicero like a lunatic and could barely stand up, and that they've got him detained.

one, i was like holy shit ring me up ASAP the guy is parked right next to me i need to get the hell outta here....but kinda blew my mind that, aside from the fact it's noon, that he's trashed and his first thought was apparently to go to the liquor store for more booze

Cleveland is..........different.

The Indians game was fun - after we actually got in the gate. The game was a "sellout" - even though there were at least 8-10k empty seats. But every single person has to go through a metal detector - and there is 1 MD at each gate. There are 4 gates in the whole stadium. :| The lines to get in an hour before the game were insane. The season ticket holders sitting by us said that the lines are a common complaint amongst Indian fans.

Rock and Roll HoF is great if you like music. Loved that.

Downtown Cleveland is really strange. It was 4th of July weekend, Indians were at home, weather was perfect - and it was a ghost town. Nobody there, no places to eat after...7 pm?, etc. It reminded us a LOT of Detroit - minus the burned out buildings. Still just as empty/vacant, just not burned out. Maybe we are just spoiled by Chicago.

edit: sorry greg, no beer. :(

I agree. It's kind of nice and there are nice suburbs. It lacks vision or something. It's a little odd.

"Odd" is a word we kept using.

There's a great lakefront - with museums, and stadiums, and......there is nobody there. Nobody on the water, nobody walking around.
Maybe because there are 8 RR tracks and a freeway in between that and downtown?

We went to the "warehouse" (trendy) area on Saturday night around.......6:00.....it was dead except for a couple upscale places that we weren't gonna eat at in Cleveland.

It really was odd. It was empty. On a perfect holiday weekend.

IMO, there isn't enough money to sustain the other stuff like ther is in bigger Midwestern cities. The lake is grody too.we have friends that live there. They have beautiful houses but there is something I don't like about it.

Is the lake worse than Lake Michigan? We wondered. No sailboats, no beaches.....just concrete.

Really? Are your kids scared of fireworks or something?

When July 4th makes a long weekend its my favorite next to Christmas. Fireworks, parties, usually nice weather, parades...its great. When July 3rd in a Tuesday and the 4th is a Wednesday it kind of sucks, but I still like it.
